For getting annoyed with dd?

When it's just me and her at home or out and about, she is mostly a delight. Polite, cooperative and helpful. As soon as someone else comes along like my mum for example, she is rude, argumentative and gobby to me. So l pull her up on it and my mum now thinks dd and l clash a lot. Why do teenagers do this or is it just mine?

They are feeling their way in the world and pushing boundaries. It’s how they learn to navigate their way through life, although sometimes you need to pick your battles, if there are times you can just eyeroll and ignore, maybe do so so you don’t clash so much?
When you pull her up is it a simple ‘don’t be cheeky’ or the dreaded ‘stop showing off’ or does it go to full on rant about disrespect and then an argument pretty much straight off?

No never an argument just me reminding her not to be cheeky / rude - then she'll answer back.
