I would say half till now more has happened.

OP posts:

Second half for absolute certain.

0-23 fairly dismal until around 20.
24-46 pretty ok!

Btowngirl · 01/12/2025 16:46

Omg 0-17 was the pitts compared to 17-34!

Mentally the 2nd half is now so much easier now I'm wiser as such

Physically the 1st half was easier as I didn't have any health issues 😅

FastTurtle · 01/12/2025 16:53

A very good and interesting question. Both good but very different to each other. Half way is very close to when I got married and bought my first house which is something I hadn’t thought of before.

Hernameisdeborah · 01/12/2025 16:54

Second half. I made a lot of mistakes in the first half and for part of the second half but I have also, hopefully, grown up a bit.

Berlinlover · 01/12/2025 16:55

Neither, both halves have been pretty awful.

BoogieBoogieWoogie · 01/12/2025 16:56

Younger years definitely.

less stress and deaths
more fun and freedom

FrodoBiggins · 01/12/2025 16:57

How interesting.

First half, I was very lucky to have a lovely family and mostly good friends. But we were very poor and everything was a struggle. I also felt very claustrophobic. World was small and barely left the town I was born in.

Second half I traveled the world, got a great job and now have more going on than I could have ever imagined. But sadly have lost beloved family members including a parent and live too far from and see too little of those who are left. Have a lovely DH though.

Probably first half just beats second half cos I had time to read lots of books 😂

BrucesBarAndGrill · 01/12/2025 17:03

2nd half a thousand times over. But if I half my life it is quite literally 1st half= childhood/teens vs 2nd half= late teens/ adulthood

Zempy · 01/12/2025 17:05

The second quarter and fourth quarter.

LadyRoughDiamond · 01/12/2025 17:07

Both have been good for different reasons:
First 25 years were full of change and excitement with lots of friends, travel, experiences, but punctuated by huge highs and major lows.
Second 25 years have been more about accomplishment, acceptance, putting down roots and finding contentment.
I wouldn’t change a thing.

Second half without a doubt! First half I moved multiple times due to military connections, spent most of my time with an overwhelmed, narcissistic, emotionally abusive parent who I still truly believe was doing their best but my god it took some therapy to recover from, then we moved to a town where we were ostracized for being outsiders, got bullied relentlessly, my parents split, family imploded with siblings choosing sides in a rift which is still ongoing. First boyfriend was an abusive a-hole. My first job the manager was a bully and made my life miserable. There were some truly great friendships, probably the closest I've ever had, but the rest was bleak.

Then, went to uni, gained independence, travelled, taught English abroad, had some incredible jobs in fairytale locations, fell in love with an amazing man who taught me loads about myself, then met my now husband who is brilliant in a whole host of different ways, found a career path I love even if it doesn't make loads of money, became a parent which it turns out I'm pretty darn good at. Has been a load of adventures and wonderful experiences. Yes a few heartbreaks and horrible moments along the way, but they were small points in an otherwise positive picture as opposed to vice versa in the first half.

Goditsmemargaret · 01/12/2025 17:28

The second half definitely. Once I was in charge things became infinitely better.

EveryChairIsWobbly · 01/12/2025 19:20

Definitely the second half. I needed time to grow into ‘me’ and that got a lot easier once I was in charge of my own life.

Crushed23 · 01/12/2025 20:00

Half till now. I barely remember the first 18 years.

I would say the last quarter i.e. the last 9 years has been the best (Covid aside).

larkstar · 01/12/2025 20:04

2nd half, by a mile.

As Philip Larkin said:

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.

They may not mean to, but they do.

They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

Crushed23 · 01/12/2025 20:07

”Second half I traveled the world, got a great job and now have more going on than I could have ever imagined.”

Me too. I literally could never have imagined how great my life would turn out. 😊

Pineapplewaves · 01/12/2025 20:16

Neither, both halves are just as bad as each other.

Didimum · 01/12/2025 20:17

Second half.

Thinkingaloud85 · 01/12/2025 20:28

Hmm. Hard to say! Can I do quarters and vote 1st quarter and third quarter for best and 2nd and 4th quarters worst?!

echt · 01/12/2025 20:34

Second half- met and married my late husband, had DD, moved to Australia and became financially secure.
