My daughter, now an adult, never slept through the night and had frequent bouts of unsettling behaviour until somebdy told me about artificial coal tar based food colouring and i removed them from her diet. Then it was in lots of products..fish finger coating, squash, crisps sweets etc. After changes in legislation coal tar based colouring was removed from most products. i was surprised today to see a warning on a packet of candy canes that they contained products that ' could cause an adverse affect on activity and attention in children' I also saw the warning on the sweet necklaces...i nearly bought these for the grandchildren!

It must be in those very colourful large lollipops. My DD was given one on a Santa trail a few years ago. I've never seen her behave like she did before or since. Just complete flip out meltdown. I threw it away once we had eventually got her to the car.

We have to get away from how we have normalised this absolute shit as being part of childhood and people feel like they have to give it.
Its only been around for 70 years or so. Let’s get rid of it. It’s a short lived tradition.
Fruit, nuts, homemade cakes. Buttered toast. It’s delicious. It’s enough.

You are right. We used to buy sweet cigarettes. I'm surprised someone hasn't marketed sweet vapes!
