I’ve had 3 this week!
hi mum, my phone is broken. Can you send some money to my mates account… bla bla bla!
I’ve played along and the latest one has just sent me bank details. Who can I report this scumbag to??

Tell him you tried to pay him but accidentally transferred all your money to your husband and he will have to text him, give him the number of your actual husband or someone who will join in and get your 'husband' to string him along a bit.

Oh I love those ones, I like to act really dumb and see how long I can keep them talking to me before they give up. I had one going for a week once.

The way I see it if they're occupied trying to explain what a sort code is to me, they're not scamming some poor old dear who's been roped into their bollocks.

I normally reply "fuck off, son" in English (mine come in in Portuguese).

Everyone I know gets these scam texts - including me. I just block and delete. Don't have time or inclination to play along! I think you can report a scam text by forwarding it to 7726 but not sure it's going to make a lot of difference to be honest 🙁

Forward to 7726. If enough people report the same number, the information commissioners office will investigate and issue a big fat fine
