Currently nap-trapped under a clingy teething baby and was getting very cold, so messaged DH (who I could see from Flightradar had just landed in Norway) and asked him to put the heating on (I have just changed phones and haven't set the app up on mine yet). So he did and I'm now warm 🎉.
I know it all has its downsides, we are probably becoming too reliant on it, and AI robots are eventually going to take over the world and enslave us puny mortals etc. But AIBU to think that it's just really cool that two people in totally different countries can talk to each other instantly whenever they want, that we can see where loved ones are/ what they're doing even over vast distances, and that someone in Oslo can instantly put on the heating for someone in England using a device not much bigger than a packet of playing cards?!
I have always liked Arthur C Clarke's 'any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic', and sometimes enjoy reminding myself that in many ways we're kind of there now!
