To have reported obscene calendar in shopping centre

Myself, DH, DS7 and DD5 went to a shopping centre last night (a sort of regional outlet village).

This centre is family friendly, loads of stuff for kids etc.

We went in a pop up calendar shop which was mainly ‘jokey’ calendars and sport related ones.
However, there was also two rows of ‘adult’ calendars which had naked women on the front of them.

These were not top shelf, they were in the middle of sections and in the eye line of our DC.

I mentioned to the man behind the till that I didn’t find this appropriate and he shrugged his shoulders and said he’d mention to the manager today.

Against DH’s opinion, I then visited the centre’s service desk and mentioned what I had found. To her credit, the staff member was very understanding and said she was concerned to hear this and would ensure it was addressed.

DH maintains I was being ridiculous and ‘busy’ and he saw a lot worse back in the day. Which I told him proves my point - back in the day is not now.

I'd have done the same.

Even "back in the day" they used to be on the top shelf.

Yanbu. I hate that kids - boys and girls - will see this and just think women's bodies belong to everyone. We. Do. Not.

The staff member on the service desk will probably do nothing, it’ll be a case of “listen to complaint, make the right noises and on to the next one”.

Perfectly reasonable, I think there is a law or at least a retailer's code of practice about pornographic magazines not being displayed at child height

@MossAndLeaves on the top shelf and with a cover on the front too. Well done op for reporting this

Maybe so. But I doubt I’ll be the only person to mention it.
