Night 2 of DD (21 months) having the most tickly, dry cough EVER

Ive tried everything. I’ve been trying to get her down for an hour now as she didn’t sleep at nursery due to the cough. No temp, fine in herself but THE FUCKING COUGH

She’ll fall asleep soon right?! Surely she has to sleep?!

send help or advice or both

Have you raised the entire top half of her mattress by wedging pillows/a duvet underneath it?

Urgh those coughs are horrible. My DD uses to get them a lot when she was younger. I used to try everything. Hopefully she'll crash out for you soon. I agree that propping up can sometimes help a bit.

Vix on the soles of feet with socks on. Works well for mine.

Soaking wet towel on a warm radiator in the bedroom. Always worked a treat for mine, humidifies the air and makes breathing less irritating hence less coughing

When DS1 was a baby nursery staff told us to cut an onion in half and put it next to the cot. It stinks, but it stops the coughing. That and Vick’s vapour rub on the feet.

Came here to say this. No idea why but it seemed to work. Good luck
