Can anyone recommend a good book for this please? Think I will get it for a Xmas present. Thank you.

I would say the app is this best tool. Sorry lnow that doesn't help for a christmas present but it is really the most helpful thing and the books AFAIK are pretty redundant

GailTheSnail · 25/11/2025 19:09

Absolutely, apps are the way forward!

happydays312 · 25/11/2025 19:27

Agreed the app got both of my children through!

elevenpiperspiping · 25/11/2025 20:15

Definitely an app as they need to practise all of the hazard tests

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 25/11/2025 20:16

The DVLA app and practice tests.

Usernamenotfound1 · 25/11/2025 20:16

Yes the 4 in one app from the dvsa. Makes it easy to practice in short breaks, on long journeys, bus to school etc.

DrivesNowDriving · 25/11/2025 20:25

Agree with above. Only the app is worth it, the book will probably not be opened.

FunnyOrca · 25/11/2025 20:38

Again, the app is the best

Motomum23 · 25/11/2025 20:50

I used an app that promised a free retest if I failed (as long as I had completed all sections of the app) I passed with 100% on both parts.

Lovelysheep · 25/11/2025 20:50

Jumping on to ask which app!

Harassedmum123 · 25/11/2025 21:18

Definitely the app- my dc passed first time after learning from it!

SilverBlue56 · 25/11/2025 21:19

It's called 4 in 1 and if you do what they suggest (pass guarantee) and don't pass they give you the test fee back.

Pearlmaster500 · 25/11/2025 21:36

Defo the dvsa official app

Pinkflower100 · 26/11/2025 08:57

Thanks all! We will look at the app! I think I will get round the Xmas present thing by booking the theory for him and that can be a Xmas present! Thanks!

My kids liked the James May app. You just enter your test date and it works out what you need to do each day.

You will need his provisional license number to book this, FYI.

Thanks. He’s got his provisional. He’s not 17 until end of Feb so will hopefully book his theory in as soon as I can after his birthday. I’m guessing there is a back log for it though!

If you want to buy him a physical thing then a copy of the Highway Code can be useful.

Mum2Fergus · 26/11/2025 10:42

which app? What is it called?

SilverBlue56 · 26/11/2025 12:21

Theory test 4 in 1
