I had been thinking this myself. It has not been the weight loss, good for them, it was the lectures before. They influenced others to remain overweight because they could not manage to shift their weight by themselves and seem to have wanted company.

I do judge them differently to a random member of the public, AIBU to judge them differently?

I don’t click links, could you give a summary of what you’re asking?

Megyn Kelly Reacts to Meghan Trainor's Dramatic Weight Loss After Singing About Body Positivity

Jesus, is that what Meghan Trainor looks like now? 😲

I hardly recognised her but the woman talking is quite right I think.

Meghan even sang a song slagging off 'skinny bitches' Lol.

Millytante · 23/11/2025 03:10

Did you read the piece in today’s Guardian about the lethal results of influencers promoting ‘all natural’ home births?
I mean, flogging jam or lipstick is one thing but managing to create a whole weighty culture which rejects all modern medical advice and leads gullible and vulnerable pregnant women completely astray like this is beyond my worst imaginings about life today.

PollyBell · 23/11/2025 03:19

The gullible will always seek out unhealthy information probably why conspiracy theorists dont have the highest intelligence level

People need to take responsibility for what they seek out, especially any that have children

No wonder why society is the mess it is in

oneoneone · 23/11/2025 03:31

Gross.

Why does Megyn 'Epstein was not a pedophile he just liked 15 year olds' Kelly feel the need to comment on other people's weight and/or their weight loss? And why does she always talk like she's absolutely spitting with simmering rage? What difference does it make to her if some were overweight, found a way to feel positive about it, and now aren't?

I've never understood why someone so beautiful can be so ugly on the inside. Shouldn't she have grown out of being a bully by now?

This.

My instant reaction was, how thick do you have to be to take life advice from an influencer but it isn't as simple as that. There are so many people who don't have the intelligence to differentiate between what's wrong and what's right. It needs to be monitored and perhaps controlled further.

whiteroseredrose · 23/11/2025 09:04

Promoting vaginal steam cleaning was the worse imo.

So you want TV/newspaper style control over social media?

I am not sure, can you elaborate?

Some of the most educated people believe conspiracy theories.

I'm not sure to be honest. In principle, I am against state/media control but I can also see why there's an argument for it in order to protect the vulnerable. So many people fall for scams and conspiracy theories as well as more sinister online propaganda, (race hate, encouraging suicide etc). I could argue against state control but there are also some very strong arguments for it - what is the best and safest way? I'm not sure which is why I wouldn't want to work in government!

I've never come across someone with a brain who believes conspiracy theories with the possible exception of those who have genuine deep mental health issues which leads to anxiety and a need to feel superior. The originators of conspiracy theories rely on all sorts of vulnerability whether that's intelligence or mental health. When people fall for it, they make money. It's that simple.

There are a huge number of people willing to hurt others and go along with conspiracy theories. The weird ones going around those with degrees at present are bizarre.

A hundred years ago the attitude was 'women and children first' women would be the ones sitting on public transport and men standing.

Now some men are considered the most vulnerable, yet there is cognative dissonance and at the same time many say they are all worse than a bear or that they have male privilage the same people claim they are more vulnerable than a child or woman.

People will tell lies, it is really odd.

The strangest conspiracy theory against selected men is that all of a sudden men with odd ideas about themselves and clothes have been conspired against, including presenting stats that are not true, yet government staff belive it. Staggering.

So you've gone from Megyn 'Epstein wasn't a pedophile he just liked 15 year olds' Kelly spitting with rage because overweight people appeared happy when they were overweight and have the temerity to be happy now that they're not, to (I think) ranting somewhat incomprehensibly about trans people?

By the way, the words are spelled 'cognitive' and 'privileged' and 15 year olds are in fact children.

HTH

Ponoka7 · 23/11/2025 13:50

@HoskinsChoice I despise the anti education/qualification/intellectual rhetoric, however there have been conspiracy theories that have proven to be true. We are always finding out about how the Police were told to ignore crime against groups of people, especially if committed by white men. How we appeased the Nazis because we thought that there abuse wouldn't go beyond the types we thought lesser. So for some conspiracy theories, I think they aren't out of the realms of possibility or that there isn't a long term agenda behind them.

Cheers! I would love you to spend all day with a red pen pointing out my spelling flaws, such fun fof you!

So anyone else think that influencers should be held more to account for their strange ideas, they have on weight?
