AIBU to ask for help granting daughter’s Christmas wish?

Long time lurker. I haven’t posted since my son was tiny and I was panicking about some PFB issue…
Daughter is 13 and has had a very tricky year. Targeted by mean girls, experienced cyber bullying, excluded from parties etc. She has been amazing through it all and the one thing that has kept her going is her love of dancing, especially tap. Her one wish for Christmas is for some pebble pink Bloch Jason Samuels Smith Ladies Leather Tap Shoes in UK Size 5. They are out of stock everywhere and, upon researching, it seems that they were limited edition so unlikely to come back anytime soon. So, wise Mumsnetters, do you have any ideas of how I might be able to rescue this situation? Do you, by any chance, have a daughter who has recently grown out of her pebble pink Size 5’s? Or perhaps you bought a pair but would like to return them, and would consider selling on to a good home?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

id post on any SM you're on & then I'd ring all the dance schools I could find on Google. Loads have used dance shoes for sale.

my local charity shop had a gorgeous pair of very small tap shoes for sale the other day, I suggested they put them online.

Does it have to be the pebble pink as the fuscia pink are in stock? Have you tried contacting Bloch directly. They may be able to direct you to stocklists for any local shops you can contact or put you on blast for when they do come back in stock? Local dance schools as well could help!! Good luck.

I believe you can get leather dyed so maybe buy the white pair and find someone who ca. dye them? Risk it isn’t exactly the same colour so depends how much she wants that exact colour rather than something similar.’

Thank you so much. I have seen the fuscia ones and I love them myself. But, unfortunately, they’re not the ones that daughter is pining after!! Perhaps I can steer her towards these if the pebble pink ones really are all gone.

You could even try it yourself with this or something similar. Risky as I say.

That is a good idea. We may try that if all else fails, though it could be quite an expensive mistake if it doesn’t turn out well!

Oh wow! My heart stopped for a moment as I thought we had found them. However, when you click on the size, it says that they are out of stock. I think US size 7 is equivalent to UK size 5. Thanks everyone for trying! I really do appreciate it. I will email this US store just in case they can help!

Try joining tap groups on Facebook and asking there

Are you on any of the dance costume groups on Facebook?

It would be worth asking there if anyone’s child has these & has outgrown if it’s not possible to buy them new anymore?

Just be careful though as there’s the odd scammer amongst the genuine people in those groups.

Had you thought about getting a 6 and an insole? Sorry, maybe you have and they’re also out of stock, but at 13 her feet are likely to grow a bit more.

I’m a 5 and often do this, the in-sole does the trick.

I believe US size 6 is UK size 4, so we would need to stretch rather than shrink these. However, you are right about growth, so maybe we should be looking at a UK size 5.5… after all this, I would like them to last!!
