The Ashes is the pinnacle of cricket for England and Australia. A really big deal. And there’s also not much else going on with international sport at this time of year, so people talk about it a lot! DH even got up at 2.30 to watch the first night, but he does play himself

England batted averagely
Australia batted very poorly
England battered averagely but prematurely figured it was good enough to win
Australia came out and batted much better than their first innings

Australia won narrowly as a result.

Edited

Australia won by 8 wickets!

The Ashes are played every 2 years but England / Australia only host every 4 years so that helps the popularity too.

There is huge historic rivalry between the two countries too.

England seem to be developing an attitude and heading the same way as footballers. I feel like the monetisation of cricket is changing the game as we have always known it.

A long wait ahead of the next game but 🤞🏽 for a better performance.
