my husband said I’m being unreasonable wanting to demand a colonoscopy at the GP

but I’m worried, today I went to the toilet and mucus wiped from my bum and now it feels like pressure down there.

I’ve had haemorrhoids in the past and I’ve had no blood / other symptoms.

I guess I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what was it? Was it just normal?

I’ve got a doctors appointment but it’s the weekend so it won’t calm my health anxiety waiting but would be good to know if anyone has had similar

Get, a, stool sample test kit from Amazon, they are only five pounds. I got a colonoscopy privately. It was £1500.peace of mind. The doctor won't offer it easily. I went private, peace of mind

You don’t get to “ demand” any procedure OP. If the GP deems a colonoscopy an appropriate procedure in view of your symptoms, then a referral will be made. In the meantime, continue to seek help with your anxiety, monitor your symptoms and take it from there.

I have this with dairy. I had to cut it out from my diet

Same. Noticed a huge difference when I cut out dairy. Only started in my mid 20s too.

could be food intolerance, or food allergi, or that disease where you cannot eat gluten.

The health anxiety sounds awful. Could you try and begin by changing you language so you reframe it in your mind. So should I see the GP and ask if I need a colonoscopy.

As you have discovered demanding unnecessary treatment or investigations carries its own risks. Maybe listen to your husband and not your anxiety.

I get this probably 80% of the time. It’s like an orange marmalade consistency (sorry if TMI). I don’t really worry about it and just assume it’s some sort of IBS.
