Object thrown at me

I started a new job as a cover supervisor a month ago. I'm exhausted and miss my subject. Tonight, student threw an object at me on the way home. I'm not hurt, it hit my back and bounced off. I don't know what to do. Please advise

I'm sorry this happened, do you know who the student was? Also, what age are we talking about, was it a poor attempt at a joke or something more unpleasant.

cam you talk to fellow staff about it tomorrow? Surely the student should face some kind of consequences.

Report it to school.

Notify your union. And if you're not in one, join up. Cover supervisors have a hard job.

Thanks for the good advice. It was a sharp stone so it really hurt. Boys concerned are 16

Find out where they live and chuck it back to them, ideally through the window.

I was a CS in my local secondary. I've been harassed, my house egged countless times. School pretty useless, police even worse.( I got a security camera and it stopped). If you know who it is, email head now and inform police(be warned it will be your word against theirs) You need ovaries of steel for the job.
