Bring me tea

I'm 2 days from completing a course which will hopefully give me a new career. I'm frantically finishing paperwork to submit in 2 days' time. The course has taken over a year. If I don't start earning soon, which hopefully I can after the course is completed, our whole family is screwed. I've already got an extension on my submission date. My husband is decorating in a house 6 miles away. He's just phoned me to ask me to drive to the house he is decorating, to bring him a cup of tea. He's in a town, full of cafes and shops. I lost my rag. I've got 2 bars of petrol in my car. I'm taking the time to type this, to get it off my chest. And now I have to walk the dog.

Surely the best response is

"No, you bring me tea"

Or a simple fuck off, I'm busy and I'm not your fucking servant

Good luck in the new career

Sounds like he is trying to sabotage your career.

Divorce him.

Do you have kids?

NuffSaidSam · 21/11/2025 14:58

I had have laughed manically. And said "Good one! You'll need to walk the dog when you get home".

Balloonhearts · 21/11/2025 14:59

The only acceptable response is LOL.

outerspacepotato · 21/11/2025 15:03

"Kiss my ass"

His expectations seem a bit slavish and like he's ignoring your situation for his benefit.

RightOnTheEdge · 21/11/2025 15:04

What the hell?
Is this normal behaviour from him?
Who in their right mind would think that's a reasonable request?

Oldandcobwebby · 21/11/2025 15:06

He's an idiot who needs educating about Themos flasks and selfishness.

MapBringsJoy · 21/11/2025 15:07

I cannot think of any situation that my husband would ask this of me. I can’t imagine this is out of character, and in your household these are the roles you play. Just dreadful.

MapBringsJoy · 21/11/2025 15:07

The fact you are concerned about how much petrol you have in your car, implies to me that you were thinking of going. Please don’t.
