To think if you are an adult with a huge head

Don’t book front row seats in the theatre.

Large man sitting on the front row of the stalls with 3 other large adults next to him managed to block the view of an entire group of children sitting in the seats behind them.

It was a children’s show in the West End but they didn’t appear to be accompanying any children.

YABU - big adults deserve front row seats

YANBU - adults to the back so everyone gets a good view

I’m short and I go to the theatre with my child.

I just try to plan in advance and pick a performance where we can have the front row of the upper circle.

Slothisavirtue · 20/11/2025 14:07

DH is really mindful of this. He feels self conscious about his height. But I have short person mindset so if I am booking I often forget that his height could be an issue!

Doobedobe · 20/11/2025 14:29

Ahh but then you must also add the big hair people.
And the big coat people.
And the rustlers should have their own section.
The tipsey speak throughouters.
And the need the toileters.
Maybe they should make every one stand in height order like a school photo and then file into the seats accordingly. But grouped as per the above.

As a short person, I can rarely see the stage when I go to a gig. I would prefer it if the taller people stood further back but as that isn’t reasonable or workable, I have to just listen to my favourite bands rather than actually look at them. Likewise at the theatre, I get backache from leaning to one side so I can see past the person in front.

I do have quite a bit noggin myself though so maybe I don’t get to have an opinion on this 😂

these days i see most of the gig by watching the screen of the tall person in front of me who is inevitably filming... swings and roundabouts

Ok maybe in come cases it can’t be helped but in this case it was a matinee, the audience was mainly primary school children and there were definitely other seats available.

What would you like the big headed men to do, call in advance and explain they have a big head and would need to not have children sat behind them!

Listen to yourself!

Do you think they moan when you get priority in airport queues?

In a restaurant would it be ok if you and your loud family move to the noisy all you can eat next door?

PartBusy · 23/11/2025 15:31

I pity their mother too.

theyellowjumper · 23/11/2025 18:25

There's no reason why adults can't go to kids' shows. I assume it was something like Lion King or Paddington rather than Peppa Pig? I love the front row because I can hear the actors well, I don't get distracted by all the badly behaved people with their phones out, and mostly I can't hear the sweet wrappers rustling, plus the front row is often a bit cheaper than the rows behind, so YANBU for thinking adults aren't entitled to choose the seats they prefer and can afford.

mamagogo1 · 23/11/2025 18:27

By dh is 6’1 and has a proportionate head. Are you banning him from any seats that aren’t the back row?

Coffeeblanketandabookplz · 23/11/2025 18:28

Disappointed ☹️ me and my big head thought this was going to be a good hat suggestion thread 🤭

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 23/11/2025 18:34

I’m an adult who is shorter than probably the majority of other adults. Yes, it’s annoying when massive people sit in front of you in the theatre and block your view, it really is, tickets are expensive and I’ve spent a few shows awkwardly trying to see through gaps between peoples heads. But unfortunately, people can book whatever tickets they like. It would be a bit discriminatory if there was a policy that if you’re over a certain height, width and head size you can only purchase tickets at the back. I can’t imagine it would go down well. Though I’d secretly be quite pleased. 😁

DH is 6'4" and I make him (yes, make him) sit at the back. I disown him if he sits near the front of any theatre or cinema but especially a school event where all the chairs are the same level. It's too embarrassing knowing normal sized people can't see over his giant head

MsGinaLinetti · 24/11/2025 12:21

Rustlers and crunchers should be banned altogether
