To think if you are an adult with a huge head

Don’t book front row seats in the theatre.

Large man sitting on the front row of the stalls with 3 other large adults next to him managed to block the view of an entire group of children sitting in the seats behind them.

It was a children’s show in the West End but they didn’t appear to be accompanying any children.

YABU - big adults deserve front row seats

YANBU - adults to the back so everyone gets a good view

Front row seats are usually cheaper - the ones a few rules back cost way more!!!

Should they get a discount on the expensive seats for having a big head?

Daisy12Maisie · 20/11/2025 13:19

I’m short. The beauty of that is that I can sit in the cheapest seats on the theatre and still feel comfortable.

If I was tall I personally wouldn’t book the front row for anything unless I had hearing/ eyesight issues but I suppose you don’t know if they have any of those things.

I wouldn’t book myself the seats with extra legroom on a flight as it’s clearly unnecessary for me! But I could do if I wanted to and no one could stop me. Same with the theatre tickets. It is a bit selfish if they don’t have any other issues but people are allowed to be selfish.

A man at my daughter's dance recital was wearing a Stetson (we're in Canada, but absolutely not normal attire on the east coast). That seemed unnecessarily inconsiderate for people behind him. As people can't do anything about their actual heads, and presumably paid for their seats, it seems like just one of those vague annoyances of life that happen.

SummerHouse · 20/11/2025 13:24

Maybe there should be a tiny pea head discount. Speaking as a tiny pea head so have vested interest.

catin8oot5 · 20/11/2025 13:24

How big is huge. My riding hats are 7 and 3/8ths which is equivalent to 58cm in circumference. I’ve been told that’s bigger than average but I’m only 5’5”. Hair can get bigger if damp in the rain though.

JifNtGif · 20/11/2025 13:26

You need radical acceptance of big headed community

To think if you are an adult with a huge head
Tessisme · 20/11/2025 13:29

All the poor people with giant heads are now having to come on here and defend themselves🤣 Seriously, it must be a right pain in the ass for taller people and people with bigger heads to have to spend their time angsting about where to sit in the theatre. Why should they always sit in the duff seats just because of their stature? DP’s friend is 6ft 5” and a really lovely and considerate bloke who spends an inordinate amount of time worrying over whether he’s inconveniencing other people. It’s crap.

Morningsleepin · 20/11/2025 13:30

It sounds like the design of theaters should be more audience friendly

Brefugee · 20/11/2025 13:31

InterestedDad37 · 20/11/2025 12:18

Big heads and tall people should be forced to go to the back! Should be the law! 😀

i am constantly plagued at gigs by a basketball team who always show up just as the band comes on stage - and stand in front of me.

When i rule the world, gigs will be admission by height order only with us shortarses at the front.

Stillpoor · 20/11/2025 13:32

What about women with huge hair styles.

MsGinaLinetti · 20/11/2025 13:33

I inadvertently picked YABU
when obviously YANBU

fishfingerbutty · 20/11/2025 13:37

I came on here expecting advice on where to buy suitable hats/ headbands, as I think I have a big head.
DM says that I haven’t and I’m beautiful, but she’s hardly impartial.
Any headwear that claims “ one size fits all “ does not fit me.

Waitingfordoggo · 20/11/2025 13:41

As a short person, I can rarely see the stage when I go to a gig. I would prefer it if the taller people stood further back but as that isn’t reasonable or workable, I have to just listen to my favourite bands rather than actually look at them. Likewise at the theatre, I get backache from leaning to one side so I can see past the person in front.

I do have quite a bit noggin myself though so maybe I don’t get to have an opinion on this 😂

Waitingfordoggo · 20/11/2025 13:42

On the plus side, almost all hats suit me and I’m sure it’s because of the size of my head because my husband has a small head and looks silly in most hats.

AlleycatMarie · 20/11/2025 13:47

@TheRozzers presumably these ‘big heads’ had paid for their front row seats?! If you don’t want heads in front you are also welcome to book and pay for the front row? And if you are taking small children to a west end show you should assume there will be adults sitting in front and use booster seats?

NooNakedJacuzziness · 20/11/2025 13:48

Anyone else thinking “big head, big head, BIG HEAD!” a la Chandler Bing while reading this?

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2025 13:48

Is the theatre on Easter Island?

TheDenimPoet · 20/11/2025 13:49

If they're in the front row of the stalls, surely they block nothing, as the stage is quite a bit higher than the seats. It's on YOU to make sure your children can see. Surely they would have a similar experience behind any adult? Perhaps YOU were blocking the view of a child behind you!

Next time, pop them on the end of a row, or on a front row, or a row directly behind a walkway.

User214263 · 20/11/2025 13:51

Can we have a rule where people with short legs take the middle seats and all people with long legs can have the aisle ones. Thanks.

Teenagerantruns · 20/11/2025 13:55

Im really tall, have a big head and over weight, im am conscious that people wherever l sit will probably have a restitched view but this is not my problem is it? l try to book seats that will reduce impact but sometimes l just can't get them.

CranfordScones · 20/11/2025 13:56

I'm shocked at the attitudes to the cranially enhanced displayed on this thread.

Fayaway · 20/11/2025 13:57

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 20/11/2025 12:31

Was he grown up Stewie Griffin?

Sitting next to Frank Sidebottom

Duckyfondant · 20/11/2025 13:59

Haha, your title has brought all us big heads here looking for headwear. That'll definitely bias the results of the poll

CranfordScones · 20/11/2025 13:56

I'm shocked at the attitudes to the cranially enhanced displayed on this thread.

Me too, I’m vertically challenged myself but I’d never expect the “cranial enhanced” to BOOK their seats to try to avoid inconveniencing anyone else.
It’s different if they choose to sit directly in front of short folk when there are other seats free.
