To think if you are an adult with a huge head

Don’t book front row seats in the theatre.

Large man sitting on the front row of the stalls with 3 other large adults next to him managed to block the view of an entire group of children sitting in the seats behind them.

It was a children’s show in the West End but they didn’t appear to be accompanying any children.

YABU - big adults deserve front row seats

YANBU - adults to the back so everyone gets a good view

*apologies for double post- dodgy internet connection on the train!

Dollymylove · 20/11/2025 12:24

You should of booked front row seats before they sold out . You snooze you lose 🤣🤣

ThePoshUns · 20/11/2025 12:26

Oh lord I’m 5’6 with a big head. Maybe I should lock myself in my house.
Like a pp I would love to find a hat that fits!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 20/11/2025 12:31

I have a big head but am 5 ft nothing. Do I have to sit at the back?

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 20/11/2025 12:31

Was he grown up Stewie Griffin?

Ablondiebutagoody · 20/11/2025 12:34

Throw stuff at the head to teach them a lesson

BunfightBetty · 20/11/2025 12:34

I think if you're over 5'8" and have a head size larger than medium, you should only be able to book seats in the back half of each seating section in the theatre. Give us short-arses and kids a chance to see.

I'm not sure what I should do though, as I'm only 5'3" but have a huge head like Charlie Brown.

TheRozzers · 20/11/2025 12:35

TeenLifeMum · 20/11/2025 12:22

Do you want a Ryan air bag checker style head size checker?

Ideally 👍

I’ve got a huge head and was hoping that this would be a thread about where to get hats because none of them fit me.

Funnily enough you can’t tell by looking at me so I don’t think I will cause offence by sitting in a seat in the theatre.

Surely it’s tall and/or wide people that are the problem unless these same people also have extravagant hairdos?

Anyway OP you’re being a real silly billy.

I was hoping for some plus-size hat supplier tips too!

So hard to find a hat big enough when manufacturers seem to assume that if you're female you must have a dainty head.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 20/11/2025 12:37

Carry a periscope, sorted

TeenLifeMum · 20/11/2025 12:42

I always think that at standing gigs, if you know you’re exceptionally tall your could be more considerate for those of us who don’t benefit from the height genes. They always stand in front of me an bob around to make it extra hard to look round them.

ScholesPanda · 20/11/2025 12:43

TheRozzers · 20/11/2025 11:56

Ok maybe in come cases it can’t be helped but in this case it was a matinee, the audience was mainly primary school children and there were definitely other seats available.

In some cases it can't be helped...but in other cases they deliberately inflate their heads before going into the theatre?

60watt · 20/11/2025 12:44

OT but Boutique Bonita and Shoffel do hats in actual sizes but I can’t comment as I haven’t take the plunge @BunfightBetty

What about people with big hairdos? Don't be daft.

When we went to see the Lion King stage show a few years ago the woman sitting in front of us had piled her hair all on top of her head in a massive bun. I did think that was a bit selfish, given that she knew people were going to be sitting behind her and her hair was blocking part of the view.

JudgeBread · 20/11/2025 12:45

The same argument could be made that those who are vertically challenged or lacking in cranial volume should book the front rows to ensure they can see.

Middlechild3 · 20/11/2025 12:46

Thanks OP, I've had a rubbish morning but this made me laugh! 😄

Is there a device I can use to check whether my larger than average head meets the criteria for "huge head"? Wouldn't want to book the wrong seats in future.

My husband has just suggested a cage similar to the ones airlines use for hand luggage. 😊

ETA I see someone beat him to it!

AmITheLastOne · 20/11/2025 12:46

I only book front row tickets. If I can’t get front row then I generally don’t bother to get tickets.

The thought of a big headed person, or a tall person or a child (ugh) in front of me would annoy me. Apple Watches annoy me a lot too. People are either selfish or stupid if they think that their watches constantly lighting up isn’t going to annoy people. One of my kids is 6’3 and if we are seeing something he wants to see then he sits in the front row too.
I can’t think we see anything that kids would like though.

fluffiphlox · 20/11/2025 12:48

I have a huge bonce and no way of knowing who will be sitting behind me.
On another note, there was a woman in a massive feathered hat at the Metropolitan Opera on one occasion when I went. Fortunately I wasn’t anywhere near her.

yqbvu OP sorry. Who even knows they have a big head?! Theatre etc is one man for themselves !

Indeed. I asked politely to stand in front of a 6'4" man the other day and he was really arsey with me. Also at gigs, tall people need to appreciate that their elbows collide with shorter people's faces if they start moshing. I thought I was standing sufficiently far away from mosh pit at a recent gig (and usually for the venue and the band I would have been) but a guy behind me started flailing about (no one else in our section was) and I ended up with a bruised cheek bone and a nasty cut on my shin. Get to the mosh pit, you git!

Ooh, thanks, I'll have a look at them.

Pinkandpurple225533 · 20/11/2025 12:56

They bought tickets, they can sit wherever they want. Matinee or not.

my husband is very tall and people are always tutting at him in theatres/cinemas/concerts. He’s given up caring. He’s paid for a ticket, he’s entitled to be there and not to have to sit at the back. He does have a t-shirt that says “Yes, I’m tall” on it which is quite useful.

Yes, that enrages me. Or wearing a hat, a woman sat in front of me recently wearing a pointy bobble hat. Grrr.

aredrosegrewup · 20/11/2025 13:09

Is this another example of people without children being expected to make sacrifices for those with children... people continue to say it doesn't happen but here is a perfect example. How do you know they didn't have a family member performing in the show, how do you know they didn't have a disability and might have needed the front row with extra space, visually impaired? There are many reasons why they could have sat there, including whether you like it or not, they just wanted to.
