To feel a bit stuck in my NHS role?

I work as a paediatric SLT for the NHS full time. I enjoy the job itself and I know I am good at my job. I spend one day a week working towards my clinical specialism which I love.

The other four days are fine but quite exhausting, there are cons - the pressure is high, the waiting lists are unreal and I get the brunt of it from parents. We are incredibly short staffed.

I also drive 40 minutes each way to work but there aren’t any jobs near me.

I’ve always thought about going private but honestly, I can’t afford to not work full time. So can’t afford to drop my hours to trial/set up a private business. Plus, I don’t have a very business savvy brain!
I did try seeing a client on a weekend but honesty I found it hard work on top of my full time job.
So I’m honestly unsure on how I’d make this work.

I am not really sure where to go from here. I saw a lecturer job which I’m tempted to apply for (I have delivered a guest lecture before) but very very unsure.

Has anyone been in this field / position and if so, how did you make it work?

Yes, have been where you are, left and now run my own independent SALT business, it's hard work but very possible. If you want to make a change you have to take a risk, I.e. learning about business, having a buffer saved up so you can leave and build you new business up.

It is weighing up the pros and cons of continued dissatisfaction in a job that pays you or taking a risk to do something you love and having more fulfillment in your work. For me, I am earning equivalent to my nhs role but enjoy flexible working and working with clients in the ways I want to,not how the nhs dictates. Maybe look at the ASLTIP setting up independent practice course as a starting point.
