For me it'd be the first commercial radio broadcast on 2nd November 1920. That's the best type of radio (even though it'd adverts every 15-20 minutes) but I'd love to see how it all began

You all need to read Jodi Taylor’s series the Chronicles of St Mary’s, as this is pretty much the premise for a bunch of disaster prone historians.

@nocoolnamesleft I mentioned these books in my post on this thread. They’re great aren’t they. I love the Time Police series as well.

I love everything she’s ever written. Jodi is my favourite currently publishing author.

I would like to have been a fly on the wall in The Forbidden City in China when Cixi was on the throne.
I find the history of China fascinating

My great grandfather exhibited there.

My 3× great uncle too - a sculptor.

Have you seen the film "Waterloo" (it's on TV quite often)? The ball scene seems like the next best thing to being there (although of course minus a few Heyer characters!) 😀

Edited

No but I will definitely look out for it, thank you Smile

So, so many. But if I'm only allowed one then without doubt it would be the big bang. Especially if I can come back to the present and tell everyone about it.

I’d like to have been there when the first people moved into our old house (built 1896). I would’ve loved to see how they used the space they had, and how they decorated it (that would obviously take longer than one visit through time though).

Nelson Mandela being released.

i was living near Brixton in the 1990s when a friend phoned and told me Mandela was visiting. I ran down Acre Lane and saw him on the steps of the leisure centre. Then he went walkabout in the streets and I understood for the first time about the woman in the bible wanting to touch the hem of Jesus's robe. It really felt like if you touched him, some goodness would transfer to you. There were big crowds and I hung back, but I so wanted to touch his long robes as he walked past. He exuded gentle kindness like no one else.
