I was seen by an OOH doctor about a few things. The report says anxiety and ‘seems to want to bring up other issues, after one is finished. Even after 40 minutes of talking’.

OP posts:
LIZS · 17/11/2025 21:10

That is their observation. Presumably you discussed the immediate reason for the appointment then added further. What are you worried about?

Sidge · 17/11/2025 21:10

Well is it true?

OOH is usually for an acute issue, that needs sorting urgently. Not 40 minutes worth of chat and multiple issues.

youalright · 17/11/2025 21:12

I thought ooh drs where for acute issues like infections or rashes at the weekend evening not just a general chat no wonder he wrote what he did

Ncforthiscms · 17/11/2025 21:12

OOH is usually ah i've got a chest infection, uti, infected toe or whatever cant wait for the GP the next working day.
What did you need to chat about for 40 minutes?? (Arent appointments 6 minutes max with poorly people waiting??)

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/11/2025 21:16

Is it true?

I’ve only been to OOH for urgent things for my DC, in and out in a few mins for antibiotics on bank holidays or at night.

If you need to talk, many people do, OOH isn’t the place.

MidnightPatrol · 17/11/2025 21:16

Amazed you managed to find a doctor willing to spare you 40 minutes and multiple issues tbh

BatchCookBabe · 17/11/2025 21:18

As has been said, why on earth did you take 40 minutes?! I would imagine the doctor was frustrated, not to mention the poor patients after you, who had to wait almost an HOUR after getting there to see the doctor.

How do you know what the doctor wrote?

Why did you even see a OOH doctor. Is this not just for emergencies?

Ilovehighlandcows · 17/11/2025 21:18

40 minutes of talking?!

Tammygirl12 · 17/11/2025 21:20

Appointments are 10 mins. Why are you wasting 4 appointments time???

AmberFlag · 17/11/2025 21:20

I guess it depends if its an accurate description of what happened?

Not a fan of the pile on here though. If it was an OOH appointment for severe anxiety then a 40 min appointment could well be what was required?

WiddlinDiddlin · 17/11/2025 21:21

How did you get 40 minutes out of them, whole tube of superglue on the chair?!

I think if its true it is a fair comment really.

JDM625 · 17/11/2025 21:24

Did they really spend 40min listening to you, or was is actually a much shorter amount of time? What issues meant you called them out OP? How are you doing now?

gamerchick · 17/11/2025 21:25

OP can you get an appointment with your regular GP instead? OOH is for urgent physical stuff I think and they're quite short appointments..

Arlanymor · 17/11/2025 21:33

The report says anxiety and ‘seems to want to bring up other issues, after one is finished - are you ok with this bit being on file? Because it's just a medical observation and the two things are potentially linked. Excessive chatter
can be a coping mechanism for GAD, driven by a fear of silence or judgment in stressful situations. I think if you have an issue with this then you need to reconsider your opinion, as both are clinically relevant.

Or is this the bit you are annoyed with: Even after 40 minutes of talking’.

In which case:
a) Is it true?
b) If it isn't then you can address this if you feel its warranted and would make a difference to things somehow.
c) If it is then it's something for you to think about because 40 minutes of talking is really excessive for a GP OOH appointment.

GentleSheep · 17/11/2025 21:38

It's a statement relevant to an anxiety disorder, so I think it's probably justified if it really was 40 mins as stated.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/11/2025 21:52

OOH appointments are for emergencies aren’t they? They’re not there so you can save up all your ailments and get them off your chest all at once.

If what the doctor wrote is true, then it’s fair.

FuzzyWolf · 17/11/2025 21:53

What is it that you object to and is it true?

I hope you’ve been able to find some subsequent support for your health.

bridgetreilly · 17/11/2025 21:54

How on earth did you talk to an OOH doctor for that long?! That is VVU.

MissDoubleU · 17/11/2025 21:55

YABVVU and the fact you don’t realise this suggests a complete lack of self awareness. Maybe that’s why the doctor felt the need to highlight this.

rogueherries · 17/11/2025 21:55

You’re just embarrassed that your behaviour was documented.

JLou08 · 17/11/2025 22:00

I think it's fair that it's there. Medical professionals are best to be prepared if someone is going to need an extended appointment.

XenoBitch · 17/11/2025 22:02

It is an observation that is not really meant for your eyes.
I do wonder sometimes if having free reign over your own medical records is wise.

Pippa12 · 17/11/2025 22:02

40 minutes is a really long time for a standard GP appointment.

LovingLimePeer · 17/11/2025 22:21

40 minutes is excessive! I'd say that your poor OOHs doctor was understating things there. You know each appointment is actually only 8 minutes, with 2 minutes for writing up the consultation, right?

Notsurewhatisnormalanymore · 17/11/2025 22:24

Omg people, be kind! OP could literally have been suicidal!
