To think happiness is just delusion we’ve learned to manage well?

People act like happiness is a destination when it’s clearly a distraction. AIBU to think contentment is just clever denial?

Happiness is just an illusiom. Filled with sadness and confusion.

But tell me - what becomes of the broken hearted?

Neither but she does have 12 watermelons and gives two to Danny. How many watermelons does her next door neighbour have?

I don't know but is she giving the watermelons to Danny because she feels compelled to? Is she a victim of the patriarchy?

Life is a bitch and then we die. 😅
Happiness comes from within, as my husband says and everything is temporary.
At 46, I'm still learning to be "happy".
Difficult if your parents rob you of said emotion, because they are screwed up themselves.
Oh, look, a word salad! 🥗

"They fuck you up, your mum and dad"

Or so Larkin said.

Why is happiness a distraction when its a genuine feeling?

Why is happiness a distraction when its a genuine feeling?

Because it can be both. Happiness is real but sometimes people use it like a filter, focusing on the ‘good feeling’ to avoid looking at the harder parts of life. I’m not saying happiness isn’t valid, just that sometimes it functions as a distraction from things we don’t want to face. That’s more what I meant.

What are you even talking about? You're either happy or you're not!

Give three examples so I can test the reliability of your analysis.
