Will we get sick?

I went to my mums earlier and we had dinner there. She made a sausage pie thing with sausage meat. Found out she defrosted the sausage meat in the microwave. Like just leaving it in there for a few hours. Then cooked it into the pie. I’m worried now. Will we get sick?

Why would you get sick? She defrosted meat over a few hours and then cooked it. You'll be fine.

A few hours in the microwave?? I use thr microwave to defrost meat using the defrost setting and it takes around 8 mins

RosesAndHellebores · 16/11/2025 00:40

@OhNooooooooooo Do you mean she popped the sausagemeat in the microwave, without it being switched on? I do that, it means the cats can't get it.

I don't think you'll be ill but why are you worrying about it.

FatBottomGirlz · 16/11/2025 00:41

Well, you ate it and there's no way to change the outcome now. Relax and see how it goes

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 16/11/2025 00:43

Sounds like a standard defrosting
And if you haven't been sick by now you're almost definitely fine

CarpetSlipper · 16/11/2025 00:43

She defrosted it then cooked it. No need to worry about it.

BakedandBroken · 16/11/2025 00:43

I reckon you’d know by now if you were going to get sick 🤮

TwinklyNight · 16/11/2025 02:47

No you will be ok. I also defrosted in the microwave in the past, so that my cats couldn't get it.
