To think more people should ask themselves, “Am I proud of who I am?”

Not what you’ve achieved. Not whether other people are proud of you. But you, are you proud of yourself?

It’s something I’ve been thinking about lately. I’ve hit certain milestones - jobs, relationships, ticking boxes, but I don’t always feel proud. I’ve also had quieter seasons where, from the outside, it looked like I wasn’t doing much but I actually was. Healing. Growing. Letting go of things that weren’t for me.

I wonder how many people are chasing pride from other people and not checking in with themselves. Would you be proud of who you are, if no one else was watching?

AIBU to think this should matter more than we admit?

Overall, yes.

Yes. I'm trying as hard as I can. And I can't be mad at myself if I'm doing that.

Absolutely yes.

But people don’t always have personal insight to their own behaviours otherwise there wouldn’t be as many selfish, self important, entitled cunts around who take zero responsibility for any of their actions.
Just saying.
