Sky TV - lighthearted

I’ve been with Sky for many, many years. Finally got a new smart TV and realised I didn’t need to spend £76 pm as I get loads for free - my contract was ending so decided I’d cancel - was told by friends that I’d be bombarded from them, but nothing. Never missed payment but did complain about an engineer who added another £50 pm without my agreement when I moved house 6 months ago. Just boxed up my equipment - am I unreasonable to feel rejected by Sky?

🤣

How did you cancel, by phone?

YarraValley · 15/11/2025 21:04

Me too. One of my friends pays a fortune because she can’t face the aftermath. I just said ‘it doesn’t matter what you say, I’m definitely not keeping it’ and I never heard from them again.

Glad it’s not just me they don’t want lol

Yea I was a platinum customer or whatever it is for so many years of being a customer and they couldn’t have cared less when I cancelled recently 😂 “ok bye!”

whyisnothingsimple · 15/11/2025 21:15

Just to spite them I took the batteries out of the remotes!

After many years of being a loyal customer our Sky will be turned off tomorrow.

I will miss the free cinema tickets though.

Cost of living and all that

My parents just cancelled sky after about 20 odd years and they carried on taking the money even though they had the email to give them the date it was all being disconnected. Like everyone else they didn’t seem to care .

My parents have had no problems with sky in all the 20 years until recently where the signal was shocking , constantly dropping out and they couldn’t get signal at all in the back bedroom but only recently there’s been problems so they’ve now gone to BRSK and seem happy enough .

It wasn’t about the cost with me but the fact that the engineer who set me up in my new home signed me up for another £50 pm without my consent. I complained and asked for an immediate refund but, after many phone calls they just knocked it off my next bill. I suspect this happens a lot as I was asked many times if I’d had an engineer visit - how much interest do they get if this is widespread?

The box they sent to return the stuff was a bit of a challenge but cracked it in the end I think
