Want things of good quality that will keep me gripped. Thrillers are good but can do a really good documentary, comedy, films, series. Anything really but they need to be good and keep me hooked.

So far I’m thinking of

The Beast in Me( Netflix)
White Lotus series 2( no idea where to find it)
Mare of East Town(no idea where to find it)…..

Mare is really grey and depressing. It's on Now if you want it but it isn't light relief.

Have you watched US Traitors? That's good. And Australian Survivor is on Prime.

I've loved Palm Royale on Apple for something a bit light hearted, but still good.

Australia Survivor is fabulous! One of my favourite shows (and I don’t really like/watch reality TV). I introduced some friends to it when we were away together and they were hooked within a few episodes. US Survivor is also amazing (and batshit) but seems impossible to get in the UK at present. If you watch the Traitors US, one of the celebs that appears is Boston Rob who is US Survivor royalty.

I’ve just started watching Absentia on Netflix and it’s very good so far. I’m curious to see if it maintains the standard/pace in further episodes (there are 3 seasons) but it’s exceeding expectations so far.

(I have ADHD so I’m notoriously difficult to hook on anything as I don’t have the patience to get through the early scenes/episodes so it has to be good to grip me early on).

Shakespeare and Hathaway - all five series

EleanorPeck · 15/11/2025 20:14

No, don't swerve Mare of Eastown, it's superb! It's a masterpiece in my opinion. Gripping, moving, but also has some moments of humour in the relationship between Mare and her mother. I've just re-watched it on Now TV. White Lotus is also on Now TV but I've never seen it.

Ozark on netflix was brilliant also just finished Queen of the South on netflix and absolutely loved it

unsevered67 · 15/11/2025 20:21

Mare of Eastown is brilliant I agree.
White Lotus series2 is very funny.
in the middle of watching The Beast In Me. Not totally decided yet how much I like it but I’m definitely gripped by it .

Barneysmomma · 15/11/2025 20:25

We've just finished All Her Fault on sky Atlantic- really gripping, kept us guessing until almost the end. And it was a "proper" ending unlike so many at the moment.

Brightbluesomething · 15/11/2025 20:55

Just finished House of Guinness on Netflix - highly recommend. Mare of Easttown was excellent too. I’m having Traitors withdrawals so keen to hear more suggestions.

Beekman · 15/11/2025 20:57

Mare of Easttown was great. I don’t remember it being particularly depressing.

Long Bright River

Mindhunters on Netflix

jbm16 · 15/11/2025 20:59

Yellowstone, slow starter but brilliant.

SunnyDolly · 15/11/2025 21:11
