I’m sure I’ll get a lot of “who even cares about social media” type comments, but social media is a huge part of life for a lot of sports fans.

Sky sports have launched a “lil sis” channel on TikTok that centres around belittling female fans and reducing their ability to enjoy sports to jokes about matcha and all of the typical stereotypes that just make life harder for female sports fans.

as a female I’ve been side eyed at football matches and men have come up to me and accused me of only being at the formula one because I “find drivers attractive”.

AIBU to just be fed up of women being infantilised and belittled at every turn?

It's actually even worse than it sounds.

I have no idea who signed off on this, but the content is depressing; that video of Haaland/hot girl matcha made me wince.

I can’t even put into words how bad it is. Thankfully I’ve not come across the TikTok account yet but I’m pretty active in a sports space on Twitter and the screenshots I’ve seen are horrible. Plus the takes from men are just as disgusting as expected

Interestingly they just deleted ALL the videos from the channel, so at least they have been listening to feedback.

Of course, the videos are still out there on Tik Tok and the mocking continues.

Oh dear. When I was repeatedly told I was only into football because I fancied David Beckham I used to do my best sincere face and claim to fancy Martin Keown. Its so tiresome. No I just love sport.

gaggiavelasca · 15/11/2025 20:47

Bloody hell, what were they thinking, that’s so grim.

Comefromaway · 15/11/2025 20:48

ive seen it, it’s dreadful. Even the male creators are standing up & saying how dreadful/patronising it is.

dd is a football & F1 fan. She wants nerdy stats about tactics, not matcha & “hot girl walk” memes.

I just came here to post this. They’ve clearly been absolutely destroyed.

They were doubling down on comments from people earlier

Jesus Christ.

they’re not even trying to engage female fans in a meaningful way. I’m embarrassed for them

My ds mentioned this to me, and how everyone found it patronising. He said the idea was good , to encourage and support women in sport etc, but it was so poorly executed.

The idea isn’t good though.

the way to encourage women in sport is to discourage the misogyny that men carry.

Just seen on social media that they've taken the feedback and ditched it. Good! Patronising idiots.
