emkana, you're just going to have to stop yourself getting on them then!

Yurtgirl · 07/06/2008 22:33

I have perfected skills in walking swiftly past - and have discovered that the more I ignore them the more my los dont even notice them

If they do ask they have a sit on it, but no way do I waste money on them

emkana · 07/06/2008 22:34

but poor ds's eyes light up when he sees it and it can be so nice occasionally to let them have a go...

but not for a bloody quid!

try this "broken sweetheart"

onepieceoflollipop · 07/06/2008 22:35

They only cost 50p where we are (Midlands). You get 3 goes for a £1.

However a few weeks ago we visited family in the South East and the price there was 70p

onepieceoflollipop · 07/06/2008 22:37

lol at Amy.

My friend would never let her ds go on the rides outside her usual supermarket. She was really consistent and it seemed to work.

Or try this "sorry I haven't got 50p" - Oh sorry in your case £1 !

Saturn74 · 07/06/2008 22:37

someone posted on here a while ago re ice cream vans.
when they were little, their parents told them that if the ice cream van was playing music, it meant they had sold out!

themoon66 · 07/06/2008 22:40

DH is just saying he was sat next to two blokes on the london train who were in this business. Apparently the supermarket takes 50% and the ride bloke has to provide all the maintenance and everything.

blame tesco

onepieceoflollipop · 07/06/2008 22:41

HC it also means that they are driving back to the icecream factory to get some more!

themoon66 · 08/06/2008 00:41

That ice cream van story reminds me that when mine were small I used to tell them that McDonalds was an exclusive club and we were too poor to be paid up members and therefore were not allowed in!!!

ds went on a bouncey castle yesterday £1 for 5 mins! I quibbled the extortionate price so she gave ds 10 mins

LazyLinePainterJane · 08/06/2008 07:57

The wonderful thing is that DS loves to sit on them but as soon as they start moving he freaks out!

Nemoandthefishes · 08/06/2008 08:06

pmsl I tell dc that if music is on ice cream van its bust..although doesnt work when its stopped in the park

Also always saying the rides are broken!

ChippyMinton · 08/06/2008 08:15

yes, sadly they are always 'broken', but I'm not completely mean - I let the DC sit in them and pretend.

sweetgrapes · 08/06/2008 08:23

Mine are happy to sit in it and pretend.

Their eyes light up and they sit in it and are happy. Mostly the other kids are also just sitting and playing.

cluelessnchaos · 08/06/2008 08:32

an older mum told me when i had dd1 never to let them on and I never had, she said that 1, 2 or 20 goes would ever be enough for them, they would not walk away happily from it so there was no point. I say oo the lights are flashing that means its broken.

Love2bake · 08/06/2008 09:05

I never pay for those things, the kids don't ask now.

However when Nanny is around it's a different story

aGalChangedHerName · 08/06/2008 09:12

My dd's have a go on the 3 rides for a quid ones at out local shopping centre. I don't mind if it is occasionally. My dd's also know that they don't have a go all the time and if i say no they are fine with it.

Kewcumber · 08/06/2008 09:15

DS hates it if you put money in just likes to sit on them... [smug emoticon] long may that continue.

Oliveoil · 10/06/2008 10:18

you set of meanies

let them have a go fgs

ours is 50p or 3 for a £1

but it can be 'broken' if I am in a rush but most of the time dd2 can go on it if she wants

OFSTEDoutstanding · 10/06/2008 11:28

We shop online then you don't have to see the rides!!!
