To be annoyed at some kindle reviews

I really enjoy my kindle because I can read many books as I want lol without it costing a fortune.
I was actually just saying that to DH today. And how it recommends books based on my reading and can check review first . So I saw one I was interested and the first one is only two sentences and gave away the whole twist at the end! I thought people didn’t do that in reviews?! I thought reviews are partly there so you can choose books based on reviews?
AIBU to be mad at this? Or should I have expected this? Also moving forward I may not bother with reviews but checking reviews first means I found better books rather than starting too many that weren’t that good and changing. :/

If these are reviews by the general public of the kind of nonsense Kindle Unlimited offers a lot of, then I would not assume there’s any more code of conduct than there would be when reviewing Argos products.

I’m sick of descriptions of kindle books as a “brilliant psychological thriller with a twist you won’t see coming!!!” Inevitably they’re not brilliant, thrilling or psychological and the “twist” is either non existent or visible from page one.

Oh a code of conduct would be great 😌

Yes that has happened too actually. I might just stop reading reviews on my kindle lol.

I know not kindle but I do Amazon Vine reviews and the guidelines we have to follow are so strict. They often get rejected. So it’s surprising so many bad kindle ones get through.

I started on kindle reviews and then they offered me Vine. Maybe it was because I didn’t write spoilers!

A good place to look for books is Goodreads. People “usually” write a note if there’s a spoiler, but I haven’t seen a spoiler on there in a long time and I frequent if most days, just incase it’s any use to you.
