Have you lost 50 pounds? Did it cause loose skin as a young-ish person?

so far I have lost 40 pounds. Down from 170 to 130 pounds. Achieved via calorie counting initially and now I just stick to balanced, lighter meals

I’m only 5 ft 3 so still quite full at this weight. Can’t say I’ve noticed any loose skin. But I was watching a video of a female body builder who lost a similar weight to me and said that that had led to loose skin on her. Her starting weight was similar. I’m just very paranoid now! I’m only 30 and too young to have loose skin! I will say that I think I carried the weight fairly evenly ie I was still an hour glass at 170 with big boobs and a bum. So maybe that’s helped. Im scared to lose the last 10 pounds if that will do the damage.

have you gotten away with losing weight without causing loose skin?

I lost about 70 pounds in my mid-to-late teens. I'm 22 now, no loose skin but my boobs are pretty saggy. I don't ever remember them being particularly perky though. Planning on getting a lift!

I went from 13.5 stone to 9.5 on Mounjaro. Just over 50 pounds, I think.

I am tall, so people are generally surprised or disbelieving I was ever that fat. Anyway, I have no loose skin whatsoever. and I’m not young (53).

I'm surprised that a 3 stone weight loss has left me with ...I can't really call it loose skin....it's almost like thinner, it feels different on my inner thighs. I'm hoping over time it will change. You wouldn't notice it if I was in a bikini, I just do.

I've lost 85lbs. I'm mid 40's and five foot.

I've got loose skin on my tummy and upper arms. It's hidden easily under clothes and I'd rather have too much skin than too much fat. I stopped losing in July and it is improving.

I went from 206lbs to 125lbs, I didn't have any loose skin. I did lose the weight over the course of 18 months. I'm also 5 foot 3, I think you should be fine if you haven't noticed any loose skin yet.

Lost 100lbs years ago. Have loose skin on my tummy but that’s because I have 5 DC and the biggest was 10 lbs 3. Don’t have it anywhere else.

I’ve lost 100lb, late 30s. Went from size 24 to size 16 at 5ft 9.

I was very worried about loose skin; I have some puckering of skin but nothing ‘loose’ that could be pinched or grabbed or flap around, iyswim? But at size 16 I’m still very curvy and near the top of ‘overweight’ BMI. I wonder if I reduced to a size 12 which is likely what I’d be in the middle of ‘healthy’ BMI, it might be a different story…

I exercise regularly, am very muscular in my build, and take collagen daily, no idea if any of these have influenced the skin in any way.

Taking collagen is pointless I’m afraid :) the body just digests it and breaks it down into its component amino acids which the body then uses for all sorts of processes. Supplementary collagen is a con and you’d be better off just eating a balanced diet.

I lost 30lbs in my late 30s and had no loose skin whatsoever. Im 5ft 4.
The only thing that caused some loose skin for me was pregnancy and on my lower abdomen

JHound · 15/11/2025 20:07

Oh this does worry me. I have a LOT of weight to lose so I guess I need to prepare for loose skin!

(Will save for the surgery from now….)

FurForksSake · 15/11/2025 20:27

I’ve got a lot of loose skin but I look a hell of a lot better at 8st than 14st.

Flowers8989 · 15/11/2025 20:31

I'm 5ft6 and age 36. Lost 6 stone 4lbs so far this year. No loose skin really. My arms need toning. But nothing really.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 15/11/2025 20:38

I have lost 23kg (that's a bit over 50lb I think?).

I have a bit of wrinkling around my armpits/inner upper arms and a doughy, puckered patch on my tummy. I also have the 'melty' upper thighs described above! Not ideal but all invisible under clothing and I'll take it over being obese.

HeidiLite · 17/11/2025 06:10

I've lost close to that and I'm in my lat 40s. While initially yes the skin got quite loose on stomach and also under the chin, I still prefer that over plumper skin filled with fat. And happy to report it has pretty much all shrunk back, just a few wrinkles around bellybutton now, which will probably also go.
I do a lot of weighlifting which for sure has helped, plus take collagen and eat protein.
Bodybuilding is different, she needed to cut and dehydrate herself before competitions, that probably contributed.
