Am I the only person who doesn't understand it

OP posts:
Electricsausages · 14/11/2025 16:39

No idea either

Owly11 · 14/11/2025 16:40

Isn't it Domino-hoo-hoo? Google it!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 14/11/2025 16:43

Whats to understand? Its a stupid noise that gets stuck in your head and makes you think of pizza.

And its worked, because you started a thread on it and now I want pizza!

x2boys · 14/11/2025 16:44

Yeah it's irritating.

sheknowsitstoolate · 14/11/2025 17:21

I sing this all the time 😂

cardibach · 14/11/2025 17:37

I don’t get the ad at all. Makes no sense and is therefore irritating.

Couldn’t you just explain?

Makemeanonymous · 14/11/2025 17:39

I haven't got a clue what it's about OP.
But it is gratingly annoying and totally stupid.
It has the effect of me never wanting to buy one of their pizzas

I find a lot of adverts have this effect on me . They make me actively dislike and not want to buy the products they are advertising. So they must be doing something wrong as I thought adverts were supposed to increase sales , not decrease them.

CottonPyjamas · 14/11/2025 17:40

It's supposed to be like yodelling in order to call a pizza.

Greggsit · 14/11/2025 17:42

It's just yodeling. There's no deeper meaning to get.

TheDandyLion · 14/11/2025 17:43

If you say it to the delivery person, do you get a discount?

WonderfulSmith · 14/11/2025 17:48

They are trying to make it a thing, a slogan that people recognise. People copy and repeat the most stupid crap - see 6 7.

Im with @Makemeanonymous . See also the stupid Asda Christmas ad.

Nifty50something · 14/11/2025 18:09

I don't mind the Asda Christmas ad, although give me a couple more weeks and I'll be sick to death of it by then. Just like I didn't mind Domino's at first but now find it really grating. I would never order one of their pizzas anyway. Overpriced ultra processed rubbish.

Nothing to understand. You know it, you repeat it, and that's it, it means that it works.

It's like Autoglass. If your windshield breaks, you're very likely to call Autoglass first, because it's engraved in your brain, not because you like the song.

RandomUsernameHere · 14/11/2025 18:17

I don’t understand it either, but find it incredibly annoying. It definitely doesn’t make me want to order pizza!

GoBackToTheStart · 14/11/2025 18:19

See also, Budweiser’s “Wasssuuuuup” adverts of yesteryear…

Well that’s a bit different because the “auto glass repair auto glass replace” jingle explains what it is for. Domino hoo hoo is confusing because they always say it at serious moments in the adverts so I don’t think it can be yodelling. I also find it irritating and buy dominos occasionally anyway

JudgeBread · 14/11/2025 18:20

It's supposed to be yodelling, they did an ad a few years ago that featured yodelling for a pizza or something. The domino-hoo-hoo thing stuck even when the ad had had it's run. I knew a lad who auditioned for the ad with no idea what he was actually auditioning for and just got asked to yodel for them, he said it was very surreal 🤣

SunnieShine · 14/11/2025 18:21

I love these adverts. Don't eat domino's pizza, though.

TheatricalLife · 14/11/2025 18:21

It's yodelling. Apparently, from a quick Google, they hired a yodelling teacher from Germany who coached the actors on their performances, ensuring that all of them projected an authentic yodel.
Obviously it's meant to be catchy and stick in your head, which to he fair it does. I'm not sure there is much to get beyond that really.

Zempy · 14/11/2025 18:24

I absolutely don’t understand it either. I am Gen X for reference. I imagine it’s supposed to be funny? But I really don’t know why. Usually I might see the joke even if it doesn’t make me laugh, but this just leaves me cold and bewildered.

And, as PP have stated, it leaves me feeling unconnected to the brand and I no longer use it. I feel like if I don’t understand the ads it probably isn’t the brand for me.

TheatricalLife · 14/11/2025 18:28

Yodelling is used to call a flock from a distance...thus people calling out to others to see if they want a pizza.

Why would you do that in the circumstances in the ads? I still don’t get it.
