Touch screen laptop or standard chrome book for secondary school - rubbish at tech/ help!

Hello!
My daughter is starting secondary school next year, I would like to get her a laptop in preparation. She has ADHD and her current school already has her using a standard chrome book for tasks where there are long periods of writing.
I’m terrible with tech! I don’t know if it would be more beneficial long-term to invest in a touch screen laptop or just stick with the basic chrome book for her?
What has worked for your children?
The Black Friday sales have started early so I wanted to make use of the discounts 😊
Many thanks

Following as my daughter has dyslexia and uses a chromebook at school so wondering what to buy her

Personally I'd get chromebook. She doesn't need the touch screen at this stage and there's not much point thinking long-term, laptops usually need replacing every 3 or 4 years anyway as they get glitchy/battery stops charging properly/technology moves on.

Thank you! This is sort of what I was thinking as well 😊 x

Thank you, i was thinking sticking with chromebook. Do you know much about them? Wondering how much storage and RAM to go for.

Don’t get anything before you speak to the school.
They might have a preference - my kids school all get Chromebooks in yr 8 at a discounted rate so I’m not buying anything for that reason.

I feel like I'm not answering your question, but we bought our daughter a touch screen Asus Chromebook.

She exclusively types and was doing A level essay subjects. She found the touchscreen so useful when annotating texts etc - I guess it depends exactly what they are doing with it.

Thank you! I contacted Curry’s and had a good chat with them, I’ve bought at Acer Chromebook for her, just a normal one which I think will be right for her at the moment 😊
