My girl is having her kittens! First one is here squeaking and healthy!

Second is imminent.

I think she’ll have 4 🤞🏽🤞🏽

They are so gorgeous

Growlybear83 · 22/11/2025 21:02

They really are so beautiful. I don’t remember the kittens that we had opening their eyes quite that early. They will be tearing round the house in no time now!

The big naughty one (Scrump) is the only one with both eyes open. The tuxedo-ish one (Croissant) has one eye open. The three black ones are still very closed.

We’ve had an issue with the new homes - I have more offers/requests than I have kittens so I’m having to disappoint people but as plenty have said on here there are so many kittens needing homes I’m sure their disappointment will be short-lived.

Oh my! They are growing up so quickly! Just 8 days old, I think.
Did not realise eyes could open so early. Hope Mama is keeping well.

DarkRootsBlue · 23/11/2025 08:33

If you have too many requests ask for the money now for when you’re going to vaccinate and chip the kittens. That will sort out serious / responsible offers.

Also ask for written commitment to getting them spayed as soon as they’re old enough, and to returning them to you if things don’t work out.

I know it’s not legally binding but still.

So lovely to see a happy family. We have to find our joy where we can (and thankyou for sharing) Just because there is a lot of sadness 😔 in the world, it doesn't mean we can't try to make our own little part warmer. I find it's best to not engage with those who are out to make a point that you're not interested in. Also continues to suprise me the lack of reading comprehension some people have!

In theory this is an excellent idea.

However, contrary to the various prior assumptions from the more vociferous unpleasant posters, I’m not asking for any money for them.

We’ll pay for the vaccinations ourselves regardless and we aren’t charging for the kits themselves.

They’re all going to very close family and friends (PIL, old family friend, close personal friend of 20 years etc) so I know we will get it sorted.

I know! I thought it took much longer. They’re all peeping a bit now and mama is very diligent still. As soon as she hears a squeak she appears to feed ❤️

Mama is very healthy it seems. No sickness or tummy upsets (which I’ve been watchful for) and eating and drinking lots. She seems happier to leave them a bit longer now so I assume she feels they are safe and well looked after.

Of course, in the wild, Mother cat would have had to leave them to go hunting, first to keep herself fed and then bring home food for the kittens as well. The most ‘interesting’ thing one of our mother cats brought home for her kittens was a Weasel….. I think it was more for them to hone their hunting skills on than for food but it caused quite a stir with her, 6 kittens, my husband and me all chasing after the darned thing.

Kittenwatch · 23/11/2025 12:07

@grumpygrape a WEASEL!? Jesus Christ I hope we don’t have to experience that!

It’s part of the kitten curriculum @Kittenwatch , adhered to assiduously by all mother cats. At seven weeks live prey will be brought in for the kittens to learn how to hunt and eat “proper” food. Once Mummy Cat came home with a rabbit, thankfully exh, being a farmer, was able to despatch it quickly and the kittens ate every part except for the tail.

So enjoy them whilst you can….

The weasel was definitely brought home for the kittens but over the years we've had the usual small mammals and birds but also rats, a mole, wood pigeons, a pheasant, and a coot brought home.
Interestingly the more adventurous hunters were the pedigree cats not the rescues 😂

We get the odd mouse and frog but nothing like a rabbit or weasel!

I love a weasel. I have seen the odd one crossing the road. Tiny little creatures, really. Wouldn’t want to try and catch one, mind!

When I was growing up, our pet cats had a couple of litters of kittens. I remember one of our cats bringing her kittens a dead mouse to eat. I came upon 2 of them devouring it at around 7 weeks old. The funny thing was that one of them hadn’t seemed at all weened before then. 🤣

NippyNinjaCrab · 23/11/2025 18:05

Thank you for updating with your gorgeous floof pics. I miss my cats terribly but we wont have another 😔
They are all little bundles of mischief 😍

Tiny ? A good 8 inches...

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 24/11/2025 06:08

That’s a handspan, and they weigh less than 2 large eggs! Like a stretched hamster…
In wind in the willows, I imagined them being more like an otter!

It was longer than the kittens though.... 😮

Dizzywizz · 27/11/2025 06:07

How are they doing now @Kittenwatch ?

Kittenwatch · 27/11/2025 10:25

@Dizzywizz They are honestly wonderful. They have their eyes open and are getting very strong and very loud!

I'll post some pics over the weekend when things are calmer.

We've had a house of illness so we're a little less on it with the photos.
