To ask you to help me find my passport?!

Here for traffic- please help! I’m going on holiday early tomorrow morning!

Inside liner pocket of a coat/suitcase/handbag? On the bookshelf after needing it for photo ID? Glove compartment of the car?

Last time mine went missing it had fallen down the back of the drawer and into the bottom of the unit. Didn’t find it until I moved house and had already replaced it

You probably needed it for ID last, did you?

If not then look through photos of your last trip and see if it jogs your memory, bags you were carrying/clothes you were wearing.

Do you travel for work? Laptop bag?

(I used to do this all the time, missed a holiday flight once because I couldn't get into the office over a weekend to retrieve it)

Are you looking for the right thing (ie looking for black not burgundy or vice versa)

Yeah scanner or printer (I did that. Had to get a new one to lead a school trip!)

There was a thread a while ago where the OP had looked in vain in the drawer it should have been in, and finally found it attached to the base of the drawer above - if that makes sense.
So check that, and behind the drawer too (if it usually lives in a drawer obvs).

Otherwise bags, coat pockets recently worn. When did you last need it? Voting? What might you have worn?

Have you needed it for any admin? Bank account opening etc, certain apps etc.

Is it on top of your head? That's where I often find my glasses.

Fallen behind the back of a drawer. This is how I found mine. Also inside coat pocket/bag lining is a good call.

Pull everything put of all drawers and cupboards. Go through every file, envelope, pocket, bag, purse, etc. It is there somewhere.

In your handluggage bag from your last holiday normally in the. Zip compartment.

Always retrace what you would have done as you pass through customs, arrive at the baggage carousel, passport in hand, case comes out, you need your hands, what do you do with the passport?

Pocket of whatever you were wearing, pocket on suitcase, exterior pocket on carry-on, etc.

Last time I lost mine it was in the pocket of my heavy winter dressing gown hung on the back of the open bedroom door. Took me three weeks to find since it was summer and I wasn't using either the dressing gown or closing the door...

Do you have a DH - have you checked his suitcase/hand luggage/rucksack/inside jacket pocket? Do you keep your passports together?

Did you use passport for ID when opening a new ISA for example - is it with your banking paperwork?

Do you have a cupboard / drawer where you sometimes quickly put things when you don't need them immediately (e.g. cards that arrive before the recipient's birthday?)
When I lost my passport it was after needing it for ID. I had popped it into a cupboard meaning to move it later. And of course a few months later pretty much had to turn the house upside down looking for it!

Glad you found it. In our house everyone in the house has their passport in a specific drawer. It only leaves briefly for ID and even then we try to use driving licence instead
