There must be inventions that make your lives easier/better/comfortable but feel unsung.

My contributions
Elasticated waist trousers- hate flies and buttons plus with IBS, they don’t dig in

Skechers - how can people wear heavy shoes now?

Goretex and other breathable waterproof fabrics. So much better than sweaty plastic for outdoor activities! I remember the early cagoules of the 70s and yes, they kept the rain out but they were so clammy to wear.

Viscose rayon...this has been around for nearly a century, but it's pretty much the only artificial fabric I enjoy wearing in dresses, skirts, shirts etc. I know it's made from cellulose, so you could argue it's slightly 'natural', but I think the manufacturing process is far from organic, unfortunately!

The humble vegetable peeler, as someone who grew up glumly peeling potatoes, scraping carrots etc with knives.

I was watching the scene of Trespasses where Cushla discovers Michael is married while she’s peeling potatoes, and cuts herself, and was having flashbacks.

My lemon squeezer. Sparkling water maker. Sheepskin insoles for my shoes in winter

Definitely the dishwasher.

The cigarette lighter bit in cars. Without it I'd not be able to do a lot of things in my car.

Definitely the dishwasher.

God yes. Best invention ever.

I don't think we appreciate enough the toilet.

My dryer. I have three young kids, work full time and just being able to get a load washed and dried on an evening is amazing to me.

Compeed blister plasters. Have a blister on a walking holiday? Put a compeed on and keep going. It’s revolutionary.
