PLEASE- have you ever made muffins that taste like a bakery/coffee shop

We just put in a new kitchen. And for the first time ever I’m inclined to bake. Would love to make muffins but after two attempts they were fine but not even close to ones you get in bakeries or coffee shops.

Does anyone have a muffin recipe (plus tips) on how to make nice tasting muffins? Feeling very defeated

Go look up the muffin lady on Tiktok. Screenshot of her tips below & vid link. Surely home made taste delicious though, even if they don’t look as impressive? We’re you a good baker before?

I bake lovely muffins. But I'm not 100% sure you'd like them - I bake my own because I hate store muffins. To me, those are really more like cupcakes, just without icing!

This is my go to. I made the huge bakery-sized ones once but I just do regular size now (which are plenty big enough!). I’ve made this updated version and the original - you’ll see the notes on the recipe for the changes. They’re both great and the original one is simpler, so I’d start there.

Yoghurt (or sour cream) is the secret ingredient

I kind of wing it every time I make them but I use this recipe as a loose starting point.

Dear God no, mine are way better than most of the ones you can buy! Sorry but it’s a rare shop bought muffin I think is amazing. This recipe is brilliant. Do not over mix muffins it’s really important, you don’t want a smooth batter, it can look a bit lumpy! Just fold enough to make sure the flour is mixed. But no beating or fast stirring.
