Multiple packages scheduled to be delivered between 9-3. Safe place nominated, phone number provided.

7am get a message saying 'delivery was attempted but no one was in'. No knock on the door, no phone call. FFS.

Not all items can be left, did they need signatures

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 07/11/2025 08:30

It was outside the scheduled timeframe and they didn't even attempt to deliver, I was home

All the delivery systems do this at times. I find it stands or falls on the individual staff member delivering the parcels. Some blatantly lie that they “attempted delivery” when in fact they haven’t been to your property at all.
Problem is that nobody has humans you can call or discuss evidence you have proving staff have lied. Now so many people have door cameras it is easily seen if delivery was attempted or not but no one at royal mail, evri, yodel etc cares.
It is all just bots.
I predict a return to carrier pigeons for letters in the future.
Or Harry Potter style Owls.

My favourite experience was an email from
Parcelforce saying attempted delivery and no one was home, when I had been home all day and the camera showed no one had come.

And the next day I actually received a “sorry you were out” card in the post!

When they can’t deliver for whatever reason I get a message that the property was not accessible. They just deliver it the next day. Annoying if you’re waiting for something to arrive.

Royal Mail just pick random times for their deliveries. The postmen don't even know what the times slots are. I know because I had the conversation with our Postie once. It usually just estimates the time they think the postie will be out on deliveries. Our Postman has been know to be out delivering at 4.30pm - way outside any time slot given on emails/texts. As they're 11 staff short at our delivery office (a smallish town) we don't get a door to door delivery every day, although they do seem to deliver packets/parcels.
