Am I being unreasonable to myself? My 18 month old boy has been around HFM and now he’s got a fever and a viral rash on his body, which blanches when I press on it.

he feels cool now, and he’s comfortably asleep, and just finished 8oz of milk .. we have him in a travel cot with us… but I am too scared to go to sleep myself.

AIBU? I’m worried something bad will happen, like his temperature will spike or his rash is actually something scary even though it disappears under glass.

im exhausted, we’ve had this going round our house for the last 7 days but my eldest is old enough to understand and she was fine.

I’m sure he’ll wake up if he’s uncomfortable but I’d be the same. If he’s poorly you need to be rested though, in case he doesn’t sleep so well later on tonight or tomorrow. Would you be able to sleep if you set an alarm to check on him in a bit?

He still wakes up at 2am for a milk bottle, he’s a milk monster love him. My husband is telling me I’m being unreasonable and to sleep why he is comfortable because I need my rest ( I’m not very well either, but different to what baby has - I’ve got a terrible kidney infection )

I’m sure he’ll be fine but if you’re going to struggle to sleep, what about setting periodic alarms to check on him? Having those planned might help you drop off.

I’ve just managed to get some nurofen into him while he’s asleep. Hopefully that’ll keep any temp from rising in the next 4 hours and I can rest a bit xx
