Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

The only good thing about the inexplicable continuation of this thread is that I won’t need a sleeping pill tonight 😂

That’s great news… If you order them through home delivery, make sure you domain good time, and hope the driver isn’t partial to a few beers at his extended lunch!

@ThistleTitscould you please tell me where to buy a crystal ball from please? So next time a machine part that has never failed before is about to fail we can have more warning! I’m not sure how you think we could have prepared better? This machine part has never failed on us before in a 20 year history of using these machines! 🧐

You could try Amazon, I reckon they'll sell crystal balls. Let us know how you get on with the delivery...

You think other posters were making stuff up?

OP had decided that the Amazon man was in the pub, taking the piss, most likely drunk. She’d had other delivery drivers turn up pissed, she had family members (plural) killed by pissed van drivers. If her staff entered a pub soft drink or not during lunch hours they’d be sacked.

Yes, irritating it didn’t turn up, excuse to report someone for drink driving, because you suspect they’re on a pub, no.

Interesting that although OP takes it very seriously drink driving, she’s not told us how she’s reported previous delivery men that have turned up
pissed?

Are you the other business partners husband furtively searching the Amazon code of conduct to report that the driver is not allowed to enter a pub whilst on duty?

Do you think OP would’ve been reasonable to report that the driver was in the pub for three hours, or do you think the tracker just stopped working?

I absolutely think other posters were making stuff up. Lockers, packed lunches, pub lunches, telephone interviews etc.

As some people have pointed out, she was frustrated that her parcel was late and the driver was apparently at the pub (which she knows the nature of and other posters don't). No, I don't think that's grounds to report someone for drink driving, but I do understand why that apparent information would make the waiting seem even worse, particularly if you've lost someone to a drink driver and when you've got staff who are relying on working equipment.

No, I'm not the business partner's husband and I wouldn't be searching Amazon codes of conduct but when there's nothing that you can do about a situation and you're worried, I can understand wanting to do something - anything - to sort it out.

It's all the "You sound like a horrible person", "You sound like a stalker", "You aren't rational", "Get a life" stuff that i just can't get behind. Would PP who have written this stuff say it to someone's face?

@NevernononoAmazon are investigating the incident - their words not ours. They confirmed that they did not know where our parcel was and the driver had not reported any issues with either the vehicle or the route. The driver had marked packages as delivered around 11pm last night. I say packages as that was what customer service told my colleague this morning.

Stopping in the location it appears it did is odd. It is a couple of miles down a long lane off a big roundabout. At said roundabout there is a large service station and a little further on a large supermarket. Far safer and more likely places to stop for a break. So yes we were very surprised that was the chosen location to stop. The tracker said we were the next stop before the van stopped at the pub.

Yes we have had incidents with drivers over the years. They have been reported appropriately each time. The two that were definitely over the limit both caused damage to the property and the police breathalysed them at the scene. We are unfortunately on a tricky stretch of road for a HGV and so we have had damage more times than I want to recall.

As for employees at the pub. We would indeed be appalled if one of our employees went to the pub during a work shift, in a sign written van and our uniform. It isn’t professional and isn’t what our customers expect from us. Anyone working here knows our ethics and why that is the case. They are free to do as they wish in their own time. However any staff member who was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol would not be permitted onsite at work. We have potentially dangerous machines on-site and it would not be safe.
For those questioning why we did not go and find the package - again we could not leave site with machines running. They cannot be left unattended when in use.

And yes we have lost close family. In one incident. It was horrific. I don’t wish to say anymore about it.

What if he’s charging his van in the car park? Jesus Christ

There would have to be chargers in the car park surely? Unless Amazon vans charge by magic?

Amazon on have changed their customer service since I last lost a package! It was like pulling teeth getting any level of info, let alone that pancakes fit others have been marked as delivered at certain time etc.

Must have been very inconvenient cabs being left at your small site when the drivers were carted off for drink driving!

You still think the tracker is so pin pointed that the driver was in the pub the whole time? You’re still sticking to that narrative? That your parcel was definitely on the truck and he just decided he’d go to the pub? Well at least he didn’t drive to yours drunk to deliver the parcel.

Pancakes = packages for

sosorryimnotsorry · 07/11/2025 23:59

@Nevernononofor full disclosure we do actually sell a lot of products through Amazon ourselves. We therefore have a direct point of contact for business. Trying to get hold of regular customer service is a PITA.

And yes we were out of the building for over six weeks following one of the incidents. It was a complete and utter nightmare.

Well that’s just handy then!

Sux weeks out of the building as well? Gosh you’re very unfortunate!

Such bad luck with a succession of drink drivers

Still doesn’t mean that the Amazon man was in the pub.

I really think you need some help due to all the bad experiences with drink drivers, you assume the worst of everyone. Take time off to get that. Because honestly you’re not being rational. Jumping to a missed delivery meaning the driver was in the pub on a single track 70mph (what single track road is that), that is only frequented by hardened local drinkers, that you’re too scared to drive past, let alone go to, is not normal thinking,

If you use Amazon so much, you’ll know it occasionally fails…. 🤷‍♀️

I’d say we were bloody lucky! The lorry crashed straight into the front of the building. Fortunately nobody was in the building at the time and no machines were running. I dread to think what could have happened. I would upload pictures but sadly it would be very outing.

I don’t need help regarding drink driving. I think due to not being able to be more specific about the pub in question doesn’t help.

That was a drink driver in the lorry? Gosh you only mentioned that you’d had van drivers turn up “clearly under the influence” but now a lorry crashing into your building? I obviously didn’t realise the amount of DD incidents you’ve experienced.

I think we get the idea of the pub, you’ve made it clear, it’s an establishment that sells only alcohol and the entire custom drinks and drives there.

Anyway, I’ll let you get some sleep now.

Nevernonono · 07/11/2025 23:18

Could you not use the same crystal ball that tells you the Amazon man is in the pub drinking?

Won’t that one work? Or is it worn out?

That one only works to catch delivery drivers out

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 08/11/2025 00:46

Amazon wouldn't disclose what time the driver had been marking deliveries as delivered...

You have got to be the same person who complained about her son's ex teacher chatting her up in a pub (and like 2 other equally batshit threads) with how quickly you get a suspiciously informative reply which went your way even though you're obviously BU

I'm sure you and your DH can go role-play this one too. Maybe he can be the dodgy landlord and you can be the driver he scolds for coming in to use the loo?

Thats not what I said. My colleague got a delivered email notification around 11pm. Not sure the precise time. She was still at work and there had been no delivery.

Definitely not the same poster. I didn’t read the thread you are talking about. I don’t have a husband or indeed a child!

Thought you said it was in the middle of no where? Now there a supermarket and a service station. Make your mind up.

You’re acting crazy! The guy’s probably on a break! Calm down!!

SlothMama14 · 08/11/2025 07:49

You called the police on delivery drivers you suspected had been drinking so they could be breathalysed at the scene? What are the chances one person could be so plagued by drunk drivers! It’s a one-woman epidemic!

LlynTegid · 08/11/2025 07:54

Seems like given how much this machine fault and part replacement has upset you OP that you need a break. Afterwards think about alternatives for getting parts and if you think Amazon is not acting on possible drink driving by van drivers, stop selling via them.

Hope you are feeling better anyway.

JessieLongleg · 08/11/2025 08:06

Entitlement, you have no right to dictate a driver's breaks

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 08/11/2025 08:09

Lunch time dogging in the car park probably. Hope he washed his hands prior to delivering the parcel.
