Builders

For several months now a house in my road has been being renovated.

Thats not the problem. The issue is the builders. They have done several things that would drive the most patient person crazy.
But the most recent is put concrete down the drains in the street. So the path/road. Car tires and drain all have concrete on them.
They are currently using a hose to try to wash it all down the drains.
I want to report to the council and say something to them.
My neighbour thinks we should just stay out off it and not to cause trouble . What would you do?

Report it to the council.

WTF! Yes they need stopping, by the council I guess.

ComfortFoodCafe · 06/11/2025 10:10

Report it to the council! Obviously they are cowboy builders, who the hell puts concrete down the drains?

Starlight7080 · 06/11/2025 10:22

Thats what i said . If every builder did that then everyone's drains would be blocked.
I just went out and mentioned to one of the builders who are trying to clean it up that it was a really awful thing to do in the first place. They just looked at me like I was crazy and said "yeah ok then" .
They have been quite intimidating to a few neighbours who have asked them to move vans over the last few months. Parking has been a real problem.
I will go online now and report to the council .

The council might not deal with the drains. It could be one of the privatised water companies

Hope you do get it sorted. They are damaging important infrastructure that'll cost loads to fix

Absolutely report to the council, bet your neighbour won't be feeling so passive when your whole road floods.

Well what makes it worse is we all already have probelms with our drains . Especially when we have a lot of rain.
I just cant believe how selfish some people can be .
