Not really sure why I’m asking but it’s sat with me. I work in a school as a TA, I’m a new member of staff. I got chatting with another TA, who has been at the school for a very long time. She also runs an after school club. She named a child in the juniors and said she didn’t want her to join the club as she was rude. When she said the child’s name she put her hands out her sides and moved them stuck her cheeks out and did like the gesture that she was big. It’s just stuck with me as I don’t ageee with it. What do you think

Did you tell her you didn’t like it?

jackstini · 05/11/2025 17:38

I think she was rude and inappropriate
what did you say?

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 05/11/2025 17:41

Definitely inappropriate. It’s difficult to call people out on these things when you’re new. I’d avoid her as best as possible and keep all discussions purely professional. If you don’t react she’ll learn that you’re not someone to speak like that to.

How really unpleasant. And very unprofessional.
I would definitely keep interaction with this person down to the minimum necessary for the job.
And if she persists in talking inappropriately about the children then you will need to have to consider reporting her.
