Say you’ve not got a minimum amount you need to earn, you just want to keep working to have some money of your own.

what job would you do?

i would be a part time waitress. Love chatting to people and I was a good waitress in my younger days. I was switched on! I was the waitress at 15 to ask you at the time of ordering what condiments you wanted before your food arrived! Genuinely don’t know why this isn’t a thing

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 04/11/2025 23:18

Probably work in a bookshop, one that has a cafe.

floppybit · 04/11/2025 23:20

I spend every day working from home stuck in front of a computer so I would work part time somewhere where I get to chat to people, like a cafe or a salon.

SuccinctlySaidSusan · 04/11/2025 23:20

What I currently do, which is write novels. But would not have a university creative writing department job alongside.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 04/11/2025 23:21

Photographer. Although I'm trying to make that my proper grown up job 🤣

MuseumAssistant · 04/11/2025 23:21

I'd do the job I'm doing now (working in a small NT museum).

I love it so much and feel I never want to retire when the time comes.

Mumoftwoboysaged4and5 · 04/11/2025 23:22

Work at Estée Lauder one day a week and take full advantage of the multiple brand discounts. My sister used to work there and I still miss getting la mer and Jo Malone for super cheap.

Swissmeringue · 04/11/2025 23:25

I have no idea, currently trying to figure it out! Been a sahm since first DC was born and the youngest is off to school in September. I should probably do "something" but haven't figured out what that is yet.

Sohelpmegod25 · 04/11/2025 23:29

I work for the nhs so to be honest anything that wasn’t as full on and stressful!!!!!

Beamur · 04/11/2025 23:32

I'd work in a zoo or animal sanctuary

pinkpony88 · 04/11/2025 23:34

Chocolate tester 😉

HoskinsChoice · 04/11/2025 23:36

I'd be a dog walker. And maybe a zoo keeper although I'd only want to play with the animals. I'd need someone else to clean the cages.

Ladamesansmerci · 04/11/2025 23:37

Tbh I'd love to just work in a baby room at nursery a couple of days a week! I just love babies 🥺

I'd also be quite happy working in a zoo as one of those people doing talks about different animals or something 😁

VioletMountainHare · 04/11/2025 23:38

I’d still want to be a teacher, just not full time. I’d use the extra time to do some research.

BittyItty · 04/11/2025 23:39

Fashion designer!!!

Praying4Peace · 04/11/2025 23:39

I'd work in a tea shop

sunsu · 04/11/2025 23:40

I’d love to have a small gift shop that sells decent takeaway coffee! But I’d only want to work 3 days a week 😂

BauhausOfEliott · 04/11/2025 23:45

Or anything involving animal care.

GinToBegin · 05/11/2025 00:10

Fine art or fabric restoration, it fascinates me watching the meticulous process.

Lesina · 05/11/2025 05:41

I’d volunteer at archaeological digs. Like the folk you see on digging for Britain or up at Hadrians Wall. I’d love that :)

XWKD · 05/11/2025 05:43

Perfumer.

Kittylickingplatetwo · 05/11/2025 05:45

An Almoner.
My daughter is a GP and she says one would be amazing at her practice. I can study and do it as a volunteer role but sadly, bills....

I have this now.

I am a lighting engineer for live music. This is something I have done at a professional level for over 20 years.

But I gave it up for a family friendly day job when my kids were born. My day job has turned into something that pays well and I now work as a consultant and pick my own hours.

I still do work in it but only a few times a month in a local venue we built from the ground up.

I would absolutly quit my day job and go full time lighting primarily on tours. There is nothing more exciting and fun that my job. I get to work with some amazing artists and crews. I get to play with some very fun equipment and I know the job inside and out. It is and always will be my calm space. In the chaos of a show when the pressure is on and there are no do overs. Having complete faith in your ability and technical knowledge for me just brings peace.
