To think this is now more of a Facebook ‘flex’ ? 💪

Sorry I couldn’t use the word ‘flex’ without using the above emoji!! 🤣

Anyway back around 2009/2010 it seemed to me that on Facebook people were keen to have as many Facebook friends as possible and if you sent a Facebook request it would be very likely to be accepted.

I think 2010 personally was the peak year of Facebook

fast forward to 2025 and it seems that Facebook has become a lot less relevant - other social media platforms have now become prominent - and people are a bit fussy about who they accept requests from?

or it’s probably just me being unpopular 🤣🤣

Also it seems to me that while once upon a time having as many Facebook friends as possible was a status symbol it seems that hardly using Facebook at all and only posting VERY sparingly is more of a ‘flex?’

I can't say I've thought about it that hard. Social media is a changeable beast. Popular ways to communicate and sell (yourself/stuff) will evolve.
I've always been very specific in who I will 'friend' on Facebook as I only use it with friends and not randoms.

I kind of agree, in that the amount of people I know who say facebook is rubbish, I never use it these days, I’m going to deactivate my account…but they’re still on there liking and posting 😆
