What kind of outfits should I gift my DIL to be’s family?

Hi everyone, My son is getting married next year InShaAllah. I am a mixed race Muslim Pakistani woman so am unsure of the cultural expectations regarding gifting the relatives. Alhamdulillah me and my DIL to be’s mother are very open with discussions around the wedding. We spoke about who we are buying for on each side, as different areas of Pakistan also have their own traditions. I will be buying fancy suits for her Mum, sisters etc. My question is how fancy should the suit be for the brides aunties? Are we talking outfits suitable for a wedding, party or home? Is there any specific material I should avoid that is deemed too simple ie lawn, cotton? I appreciate some people will comment ‘do what you can afford’ but what is customary? If anyone could add pics I would be really appreciative of your help. Thanks in advance

Literally no idea as not part of the culture but I actually think this is such a lovely way to blend families together (as long as you can afford it). Can never go wrong with some sparkles OP. If it were me personally, I would go to a traditional Pakistani dress makers as they will probably have more understanding / do this for families often so should be able to give you some proper guidance.
Good luck on your search!!

Could you perhaps ask her mum for her input? Get her to send you a few photos of things she thinks they’d like?

Thanks for replying. I could do but was trying to avoid in case it comes across in the wrong way. Like, I don't want them to think I’m trying to compare against what they may potentially be gifting. I just don't want to make any big no no’s 🤣

Perhaps you could ask her to gauge their personal preferences, everyone has different tastes.

Yes, I have been taking notice of what they wear on the occasions we have met up so that I have an idea of the colours and style they like 👍🏼
