My dad had a ct scan and they said it was okay?
I asked for a 2nd opinion…
and they have found cancer….
they literally signed him off!!!! Back to gp!!!! And I put a complaint in as they said we don’t have to see the consultant even. Tho it said red alert on the nhs app on results they said no,
they are now acting very fast!!! He had a biopsy 2 days after seeing a top consultant?? I keep thinking he won’t be here at these appointments if I didn’t push them??

Much more detail required before I’m concluding medical professionals are guilty of neglect

When was the scan?
when they did say all clear
when did they then say not clear

Givenupshopping · 02/11/2025 16:14

OP, can I ask what made you ask for a second opinion?

I think you have to be very on top of things with the NHS now.

We were sent home by a consultant as dh was "dehydrated"

Only to find a massive brain abscess days later. I knew he wasn't right and kept pushing for answers.

Same again after his second op - they wanted to send him home - I said he's NOT right. And the abscess had come back.

It's a shame we have to fight but if you don't, things get missed.

I'm so glad you asked for a 2nd opinion. Trust your gut.

Best wishes for your father op

You likely you won’t get anywhere they stick together. They sent my jaundiced, hallucinating, 7 stone father home with ‘nothing sinister’.
He died three weeks later.
Same with a friend’s father, she had to fight and fight, when they withheld water from him she smuggled it in. He’s home now and has been well for several months.

Keep fighting OP and I hope your dad makes a recovery.

I saw the first consultant after dh's diagnosis and actually let rip I am ashamed to admit. I didn't shout but I was crying and told him he had nearly killed my husband with his carelessness.

He kept in touch afterwards, he wrote to apologise, he said he and his team had reflected and would learn from this. So it's good to complain and let them know.

OP, can I ask what made you ask for a second opinion?

Because when it said red alert and urgent, my doctor said my dad don’t need to be seen. Until I asked for him to be seen . Now the new consultant is hurrying things up quickly :(
seen hm Thursday … biopsy the next day??!!!
