Self defence spray/pepper spray

Can’t stop thinking about those people on the train, armed only with a jack Daniel’s bottle waiting for the carriage doors to open.

i know pepper spray is illegal, but why? Should it be?

genuinely looking for reassurance, debate etc. I’d feel much better having a directional spray. I know women who DIY “bug spray” etc to carry around with them when walking dogs alone, but the wind etc makes these not appealing.

If you spray pepper spray in an enclosed train carriage, you and the rest of the passengers aren’t going to have the upper hand, you’ll all be blinded and choking. If it’s legal to carry pepper spray, don’t you think the bad guys will also be carrying pepper spray to overpower you first?

If not pepper spray, something else. We are not being protected by our authorities so we should be able to carry something to defend ourselves or help immobilise an attacker.

Deep heat sprayed in the eyes works similarly to pepper spray. You also might need it for your painful back.

Always have Deep Heat spray on you. For muscle pain, obviously.

Deep heat and pepper spray really aren’t comparable and it shows people have no idea what pepper spray actually does, if people are so keen on everyone having access to pepper spray surely those people are also happy to be exposed to it in a small space that they can’t escape?

Plus now rapists, burglers etc now have a legitimate reason to carry a weapon, very handy for them.

You 100% do not want to use CS gas in an enclosed space like a train carriage. You have very little control over where it goes and would just incapacitate everyone including yourself.

We know it’s not the same, but we don’t have pepper spray so 🤷‍♀️

Of course they arent exactly the same, noone is saying they are. But until we are allowed to protect ourselves we will have to improvise

Trust me, as someone who is stupid enough to have got it in their eyes, it really is pointless carrying it, I’d rather spray that in my eyes than get suncream sweat in them again.

I certainly don’t suggest the general public carry weapons, for people who wish for that there are countries where it is the norm if it would make them feel safer.

What we actually need are some Police , and some Law, so that psychopaths are aware of deterrents.

we are moving toward being a lawless society, which means that the lowest denominator is uncontrolled.

The way the policing is in this country people using pepper/deep heat will be the ones in trouble for causing harm!

Yes. I like the ultra directional nozzle , spray that I’ve seen from our police. I get that spraying an aerosol like hairspray or deep heat is as likely to fog in my face rather than theirs.

another thought

if a criminal is setting out to commit crime, and can use whatever he can get his hands on, eg bat, knife, pepper spray, vehicle or whatever. And the criminal has the means of planning and surprise - why is pepper spray going to be more likely? If it was good for attack they’d already be smuggling it in from other countries where it’s readily available and using it.

I’ve got such a sore shoulder, I am never without a can of Deep Heat in my bag.

Personally I love really hot chilli sauce that I mix with a bit of water and spray onto food that I eat and I always carry it with me. My heat level is 10 million scoville. 🤷‍♂️
