Having failed utterly with Sober October, I wanted to start a thread for anyone who was doing a sober November. 1 day in. Went to a friends party. Managed to not drink. Big tick!

I'm calling it NOvember.

Got offered rum at bonfire night to go in the coffee I'd brought (no mulled wine). Said no.

Tick.

Blastedusername · 01/11/2025 23:15

I’m in. I have high cholesterol so I want to cut down on drinking

Todayisanewday75 · 02/11/2025 07:38

I’m in, only managed six days of sober October. Really need to do better

Grandpianoplayer · 02/11/2025 21:42

Hello all!! Sorry I haven’t checked in. It’s been a very busy day. @Todayisanewday75 me too. But we’ll do better this time. @ZenNudist well done you! @Blastedusername Let’s get that down together!

AyrshireTryer · 02/11/2025 21:43

No, sorry can't do it.

Grandpianoplayer · 02/11/2025 22:09

@AyrshireTryer I don’t want to put you under any pressure. I really don’t know if I will manage it. I managed about 8 days last month having resolved to go sober. But that was 8 days more than I had done the previous month so I will take that as a win. And it’s why I am attempting again.

In the run up to Christmas its a no from me but I just want to say good luck to you all!

You got this!

Ill be doing my annual dry January!

Blastedusername · 02/11/2025 22:55

Thank-you for the encouragement. forgot that I wasn’t to drink, and had 1 drink at my nephew’s party. Still - better than 1-2 bottles of wine. Good luck for the week everyone 😊

Todayisanewday75 · 03/11/2025 07:45

I’m actually starting today, there was so much going on at the weekend. I got a journal from Amazon to keep a record of food and drink because drinking leads to me making bad food choices or not eating and waking up starving and neither are good.

Grandpianoplayer · 03/11/2025 07:48

@Blastedusername every day is a new day. @Todayisanewday75 welcome and love the sentiment of your name

Daffydoll · 03/11/2025 08:34

I would like to join the thread in order for a reset before Xmas and hopefully lose some weight

Grandpianoplayer · 03/11/2025 09:20

@Daffydoll you’re part of the team now. Welcome!

Grandpianoplayer · 03/11/2025 21:21

OP posts:
Daffydoll · 04/11/2025 14:08

Hi @GrandpianoplayerI am doing fine as I am a weekend binger!
Friday will be my big test!!
How’s everyone else doing?

Grandpianoplayer · 07/11/2025 09:13

@Daffydoll how you feeling ahead of the weekend? It’s all very quiet - how’s everyone doing?

OP posts:
Daffydoll · 07/11/2025 10:27

I’m starting to think about it now which is mad.

ZenNudist · 07/11/2025 17:11

Well I'm on my way into town. Chinese meal and theatre. I've just received a big promotion and the first week has been hard. I want a celebration glass of prosecco with my meal. I know that if I crack it will make it that much harder to stay off the booze I'm the rest of November.

Daffydoll · 07/11/2025 17:23

Well done @ZenNudistthat’s great news!

Daffydoll · 07/11/2025 17:25

I have consciously made myself a cup of tea at witching hour. Now I don’t feel like an alcoholic drink. Sometimes the anticipation and thought of it is more exciting.

LittleSF · 07/11/2025 19:29

Heading into my fifth booze free weekend - I’ve lost almost 50lbs since January and decided I’d give up the drink until I lose the final 10lbs. I’ve just 4lbs to go so not a drop until I get there and then a glass of champagne (or two) will be had.
Had a nightmare day at work and would love a glass of wine, but will have a cup of tea instead.

Grandpianoplayer · 07/11/2025 20:25

That’s brilliant all round. Had a very up and down type of day so keen to have a glass of something but haven’t. May have an early night instead!

OP posts:
LittleSF · 07/11/2025 20:27

I find I’m having a lot of early nights lately… it definitely helps.

ZenNudist · 07/11/2025 22:41

I checked this thread when I was at the bar reminding me to stay strong. After the play I looked around hopefully that people might want to go for cocktails but fortunately they all headed home, as did I, managing another night of not drinking!

Grandpianoplayer · 07/11/2025 23:06

@ZenNudist i am pleased it helped. As I said earlier in the thread: we are a team.

OP posts:
Grandpianoplayer · 20/11/2025 22:53

It’s been a few days. How’s everyone doing? I have fallen off the wagon a couple of times BUT I have spent more than half this month sober. I will take that as a win
