Getting time off for interview?

Hi
Does anyone have suggestions please...

I work term time 9-2 at my local council and don't have annual leave but have been invited to an interview next Fri. The only way I think I can go is if i go sick which i really dont want to do. Or i could say my child is unwell, i really dont want/like to lie.

Telling my boss isnt really an option.

My sickness record is very low but i have had a couple of days a few weeks ago.

The interview is for the hours 9-2 (typical!) and incorporates group sessions etc. Is it worth contacting hiring manager to see if they can accomodate alternative arrangement?

Thank you

Do you mean you don’t have any annual leave left? Can you request unpaid leave?

Term time workers don’t get annual leave outside of school holidays. It’s a real issue. I’m term time too. Last job move I told my boss because it was a possible redundancy situation but now I would probably be off sick because it’s the only way to do it without letting your boss know.

A GP's callback due to a personal medical issue? You have to go to a sit and wait clinic for it, so can you make up the hours or take as unpaid?

My friends was a school dinner lady and had to call in sick for job interviews, there really was no other way they would allow her the day off. It's shitty and she hated doing it.
