To think 11:35 is too late to trick or treat

Last night I had three boys knock the door at 11:35pm. I was hesitant open the door as I thought it was weird to knock so late but as I still had some sweets left I answered it. It had been over 2 hours since the last ones and I found it quite inappropriate to do it so late. Would you find it rude that late?

I thought our last one was far too late at 9.50. It was a little boy and his dad. The dad had only just got home from work and had promised to take his son out. 🙄

A lot of people wouldn't have any treats left by that time. Or packed up for the night and "gone to bed". Whatever reason he gave it should have still been "No, we can do it next year". It won't really be the great experience the little lad would have been hoping for, would it? Such a shame.

I had a big display in my front garden that loads of people were posing in for photos, but I had switched off the music by 8.30 and started packing up most of the decorations. At that point we hadn't had anyone for 20 minutes or so, so we concluded it was done for the night. I wouldn't have been pleased at anyone rocking up after 8.30, expecially long after that!

Way too late. Were they teens? TBH I would not open my front door at that time any night of the year. Odds are I would be sound asleep.

I guess they did it because people were still opening their doors for some reason.

@purplecorkheart @RealChristmasBaby They looked about 16-17ish

@Notagain75 I still have my decs up and lights on tonight. I wouldn’t have taken them down at 9ish last night as it was raining and I’m still enjoying them. I’ll get rid tomorrow.

Surely that's ridiculously old for trick or treating?? Taking the piss, old enough to be earning their own sweet money.

I completely agree with you. I was getting ready for bed so was going to ignore it. DH went to the door. I did still have a few things out as it started throwing it down so left them out rather than get soaked. I usually take them straight in.

It has just reminded me of when 8 still lived at my parents and a week after Halloween we got 2 girls trick or treating. They said they were doing it this weekend as they’d been on holiday for Halloween. 😂

Yanbu. I think anything after half 9 isn't really acceptable. I'd have not answered the door.
