Ebay postage help?

Ive sold something on ebay with free postage (ie I pay for it). But it's heavy so I needed it collected. The cheapest method was Royal Mail. That would have been about £15.

I didnt see anywhere when I sold it to choose the postage. Ive sold it and its automatically created a £5 Evri label. Apart from the hassle of getting it to a drop of point, it looks like it will actually cost over £30 to post it via Evri.

Ive tried to cancel the order but ebay will charge me £5 for the Evri label anyway.

Can I just send it via Royal Mail anyway? Is there a way I can prove I've posted it if I dont use the Evri label?

I think you're better to cut your losses and cancel the order because the postage is going to cost you a fortune if it is ridiculously heavy. Unless its particularly valuable and £30 odd to post it won't make much difference? Royal Mail won't be cheap if ita a valuable item.

Have you messaged your buyer to see whereabouts they are and if collection is indeed possible? Or meet up?

They cant collect unfortunately. It's the weight rather than the value that is the issue.

I am "happy" to write off the £5 Evri and just pay the RM cost instead. But will I be able to prove postage/delivery if I dont use their label?

If you go to the help section of eBay and tell the bot you want to speak to someone, you can actually get through to a human on eBay. I'd ask, I had to do that the other day and they were really helpful.
