Don't boys get enough bad press anyway?

Why can't we have ones that say 'hero', or (for the babies) 'sweetheart'.... instead we get numskull, here comes trouble and suchlike

i think some of them are quite cute . ds has been known as a little monkey since he was born, and i don't mind the monkey/monster type t-shirts, although i agree they are cheesy.

i really dislike the sound of the "split condom" type slogans though.

ExtraFancy · 06/06/2008 23:43

My DS has one that says 'Sleep is for the weak' - he's 10 months old and it seems rather fitting but in my defence, it did only cost £1 from a charity shop.

It was probably donated by someone else on this thread!

squilly · 07/06/2008 16:14

Each to their own, but I kind of like, I've got more hair than my dad. Made me giggle.

Agree with the neggie ones, though. Why label a kid? Especially when they're old enough to know what the label means.

Bad enough when we 'label' kids with our discussions.

I say this, not in judgeypantsness, but in knowledge of the fact that I'm currently having trouble with dd because I'm telling her/DH that we seem to be going through a phase. Why can't I keep my bloody mouth shut!

No tee-shirts to reinforce the point, thanks very much...or I'd need one that says '100% eejit'.

squilly · 07/06/2008 16:14

For me, that was...not for dd! DOH!

SmugColditz · 07/06/2008 16:18

They are the people who took the piss out of the brighter children at school. The men laugh like this - "Hur hur hurrr" and the women like this - "Meeee heee heee heeeee!". Both genders watch Big Brother avidly, and eat their steak well done. They don't like fish, they don't trust it.

The child will be better off if he is a numbskull because if he isn't, the relentless ill-disguised resentment and jealousy his IQ engenders from his parents will cripple him emotionally.

I've always loved Nippaz with Attitude shirts, especially the Mutha Sucka one. Unfortunately I stopped breastfeeding before I got round to getting my son one. He has a couple of "cool dude" type shirts, that have been in a multipack with plain t-shirts and one that says "my daddy rocks" in silver on black which I really like but I'm trying to steer clear of the "here comes trouble" type ones.
Nappy Head have good ones too. I like "Santa doesn't exist but I can't read yet so it's OK" and "does my head look big in this?"
I think girl's ones are worse than boys - all the "I'm a spoilt little princess" ones. Do you really want to encourage that kind of behaviour?

"and eat their steak well done"

Doesn't everyone since the advent of mad cow disease?

PeachyWontLieToYou · 07/06/2008 17:53

hensmum i haven't even entered into the world of girks ones thankfully (I have 4 boys), although I do think theres a sadly negative attitude to boys these days which dismays me

Er, no. I eat mine rare, as do most of the mostly sensible people I know. What on earth is the point of ordering steak if you are going to nuke it?

I dont mind the cheeky monkey slogans but I hate the ones that are like adult jokes if u know what I mean.

For instance I dont know if anyone else saw thembut I was absolutely disgusted in Tesco when DS was younger I was buying him bibs and the only ones they had said

'IM A HUGS DEALER'

I thought it was shocking. Anyone else think so or am I being unreasonable?

scattyspice · 07/06/2008 20:23

LOL.I bought DS a sweatshirt from Primark when he was about 3 that said 'sorted' on it. Everytime he wore it it reminded me of Pulp singing 'sorted for Es and Wizz'. He didn't wear it often.

Wuxiapian · 07/06/2008 23:23

My son's grandmother bought him the "Numbskull" t-shirt from Next.

I wasn't impressed.

My son is 9 and autistic and wouldn't give a second thought about it, but even still...

Horrible, horrible.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 07/06/2008 23:36

Have a T-shirt for dd that says "my parents beat me" but it also has the cystic fibrosis logo- we get some looks but as it's purely to raise awareness hey ho,

( we do physio twice daily)

As for the born to be bad etc just something slightly unsavoury about a 3 month old in one.... and slightly chavvy??

Flashman · 08/06/2008 21:18

I don't get it if it makes you smile - fuck what anyone else things.

And i say this as a full grown man that still a smiles when he puts on his superman teeshirt or thungercats one. And DW tells me regular that I look a dickhead - but what the hell.
